[lace] Christmas Surprises!!
My mail this week has brought a couple of special surprises to me!! When I volunteered to organize the Card Exchange this year, I decided I probably should not also commit to making a card, so I didn't join the exchange. When I saw the cards that Jenny posted, I was envious of all of you who received such nice cards!! This week, Ilske Thomsen and Alice Howell each sent me a card with a special lace ornament! I am so excited to have them on my tree now! And we've just been socked with a snowstorm which promises to be pretty serious. The ground was covered in less than an hour, and the wind is picking up. It's unusual for Virginia to have blizzard conditions, but it looks like we might get them. But the snow and new ornaments surely put me in the Christmas mood! Just a brief update - the Kant magazine is being printed now (the December issue), and will continue, albeit in a new format/style. The Summer School is going ahead - all bookings honoured (I believe, deposits for 2010 safe). So the future is assured, with many plans being made, and new directors. [lace] Lace for Dolls clothes
A friend of mine is sorting out her mother's belongings and has come across three or four porcelain doll kits which came from George White, probably many years ago. They include head, lower arms and legs, and wigs. As I write this, I realise I have forgotten to ask her if the fabric for the upper limbs and body is in the pack. She would like a small amount of money for them. If you are in the UK and are interested, please write to me privately and I will pass on her phone number. I think I am right in saying that Alexander Stillwell's next Bucks book will feature doll's clothes as an idea for using some of your lace, so don't miss this opportunity to have a doll ready to be dressed.
