[lace] sorry

2014-02-01 Thread Jane Partridge
Becca, don't worry - there are quite a few experienced knitters on
Arachne - for example David Collyer has nearly always got a pair of
socks in progress, and I'm sure they can advise if asked.

In any case, knitting with holes in is lace - and there are far too few
knitted lace designs and patterns in certain Lace magazines... (hint,
hint!)

I am such a dough head. I sent my 'oh no' to the wrong group. I am
knitting a pair of socks and the safety pins and pins. The short row
heels I was looking for used bobby pins which are what you use in your
hair. Again, sorry.

[lace] Lace Guild website update

2014-02-01 Thread Jean Leader
A series of information leaflets on various aspects of lace and lacemaking has
been available from the Lace Guild for a number of years. These leaflets have
now been updated and can be downloaded as PDF files from the website.

You'll find the first two - Care of Lace and Woollen Lace at
http://www.laceguild.org/guild/infoLeaflets.html

The other six leaflets - Pillows for Bobbin Lace, Bobbins for Lacemaking,
Threads: an Introduction, Packing Lace for Exhibition, Mounting Edgings and
Insertions, and Bobbin Lace: Making Sense of Instructions will be made
available over the next few weeks.

I have also mounted a new Gallery with some needlelace from the Lace Guild
Collection at
http://www.laceguild.org/museum/gallery.html

There is also information about workshops, talks and suppliers at the 2014 Lace
Guild Convention at
http://www.laceguild.org/events/convention.html

[lace] Another LACEBobbin

2014-02-01 Thread Elizabeth Ligeti
I first thought needlecase, but if you scroll down, someone suggested
that, and her reply was that she thought so too, at first, but as there are
open ends to the gadget, there is no way to keep the needles inside it.

Regards from Liz in Melbourne, Oz, where we are having a few scorching days
again - up in the low 40's C - or 100 - 110F.
