I've had an antler from an Indonesian Deer here for about 10 years waiting for someone to turn it. A few months back I gave it to my brother-in-law who was over from Hobart, Tasmania. He turns bobbins and was keen to have a go. Alas, he told me that when he cut it the entire inside was like sponge and as such, useless. However, if you're interested, last week at the Victorian Lace Day in Melbourne, I did buy an antique bobbin which I'm sure is horn. It's quite long and may just be antler for all I know. I'll photograph it if you want David in Ballarat - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. [lace] Need a picture of a bobbin made from any type of antler?
Can anyone help me with a picture of the above please. If you can it may well pop up on the internet in a big venture i am working if that is OK by any donor? For the most part a picture taken from say 2 feet and in focus usually does. You can use flash if you like. In-focus is the key thing. Keeping my fingers crossed Many thanks Brian - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. RE: [lace] IOLI Convention Get together
Oh, how I wish I could be there! One of our local lace makers is: Janet Theaker. Agnes Boddington - Elloughton UK Hi, If anyone reads this and is attending convention, we are meeting on Tuesday evening in the Grand Ballroom at 6:30 pm. It is listed in the convention handbook. We have the room until the tat off. Today was the opening dinner and the meal was very good for a hotel meal. The fruit dessert was really nice. Shopping was good and I have not completely spent up yet. Our hotel room is very spacious and comfortable. Looking forward to my Ipswich class tomorrow.
