I'm on vacation and just got one telling me that the final demand invoice is
attached. If I owe anyone then send it through the post, especially if it a
final demand from a company I've never heard of.

Can't be too careful these days.

hospital tomorrow- not the best way to spend the vacation

Hi Sue and everyone
Thanks for the warning, Sue. It is not just gmail. I just got one at
another address. The spamware mimics the server address. When I checked the
message pathway at the header, it was shown as "friend's-name-at-
suspect-server".
To see the pathway in a gmail message, on the right-hand drop-down menu,
click 'show original.' Also in that menu is the Report Phishing link - use
it if you get a suspect message.
We sure have to be careful about things like this. Certainly never click
anything that doesn't seem right.

Re: [lace] Beware of Gmail phishing scam

2017-01-20 Thread AGlez
Hello Arachne computer users!

The best thing to do is *not to open any message that looks suspicious *to
you, even if it comes from a known person. Before opening it, you can
usually read a bit of the beginning of the email, and if it sounds
nonsense, or strange, just delete it.

If it happens that it was a real good email and you have deleted it, the
person who sent it to you will surely send it again soon or even make a
phone call if it was important.

So... be careful and have a nice weekend!!

[lace] Beware of Gmail phishing scam

2017-01-20 Thread Sue Babbs
I’ve just been alerted to a new scam being played on gmail users:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/bluesky/originals/ct-gmail-phishing-attack-uiuc
-bsi-20170119-story.html

The brief details are:
Gmail users receive an email that may appear to come from someone they know,
including what looks like an attachment. When users click on that attachment,
a new tab opens up and users are prompted to sign into what looks like Gmail.
But that copycat site is actually a site attackers use to collect login
information, and once users log in, their Gmail account is compromised.

and to avoid getting caught:
users should be careful to spot a green lock icon in their browser address bar
— if using Google Chrome — and make sure the URL begins with
“https://”. The copycat Gmail login site begins with
“‘data:text/html” and should not be trusted.

Was Turnhout lace ever made with a five hole mesh for the background? We are

And so say all of us!

The quake that caused the avalanche has done more damage to the area that was
hit last summer. I hope there aren't too many casualties this time round.
