Re: [lace] Turn over stitch
Ah ha! Thank you Alice. My brain was in overdrive trying to figure out how/why to turn a stitch over! Once again different names for the same process tripped me up. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.. Best regards, Carol Melton West of Phoenix Arizona, USA Valley of the Sun where it has been under 100 deg F for 2 days in a row. [lace] Turn over stitch
The Turn Over Stitch is CTTC. This is used when two colors meet and you want them each to return the way they came rather than crossing through the stitch. If you need to put a pin, you can CTTpinC. In point ground, you would put a pin under the stitch. In many cases, no pin is used. Just tension carefully. It's a stitch that's usually not needed if you work in a solid color. However -- CTTC is handy if you want to trade two pair, like switching the workers with a passive pair because your workers are running low on thread. [lace] RE: Flax and Lace Museum in Kortrijk
I ran Kant through the collection search and this was the result http://erfgoedinzicht.be/collecties/?q=kant=gallery=horizontal It says there are 1342 pieces of lace, although this may be in different museums. I donât recall that the lace at the Flax museum was all that exceptional, though. Devon - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. [lace] Flax and Lace Museum in Kortrijk
Subject was changed, so it will be easier to search in Arachne archives for Lace in Kortrijk.  Could someone share a web site where those who do not travel can see the laces in the Lace Museum in Kortrijk?  All I found was tourist bureau stuff.   Everyone should be able to see a few of the exhibits that were in the old Flax and Lace Museum in Kortrijk.  It was wonderful.  Greet,  Does the new museum have a web site?  Is there a book about the lace collection in Kortrijk?   For those with a scholarly interest in production of linen thread, there is a large 1987 book, still available, written by Bert Dewilde, who was connected to the old Flax and Lace Museum in Kortrijk.  Title:  Flax in Flanders Throughout the Centuries: History, Technical Evolution, Folklore - ISBN 90 209 1498 7, in English, art book size, 216 pages, many photos.  It should be in the libraries of lace museums.  The Lace Museum in California has it.  Jeri Ames in Maine USA Lace and Embroidery Resource Center  - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. I'm sure a lot of work went into creating it. It would be such a shame if it was lost. It would be nice if the Lace Family Tree was in digital form, but from what I am hearing it sounds more likely that it isnât even at the Flax Museum in physical form anymore. However, Lyn Bailey has unearthed a photo of it that she took in 2009 and I just posted it to the IOLI Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/iolilace/photos/a.1410654602528237.1073741828.140703 1982890499/1946159612311064/?type=3 Devon Sent from Mail for Windows 10 - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. Re: [lace] IOLI Magazines - a Review Flax
I never saw the old museum but Vernon and I visited Texture on our way back from Krakovany earlier this year, it is an amazing place and well worth a visit. Watch out for all the pigeons, they are everywhere and you can even buy one to take home with you. Re: [lace] Belgian color code
Dear all I did Chantilly year 1 at the Kantcentrum in July this year, Lieve Pollet uses turquoise for pairs that are carried with the gimp in Chantilly. She did say it wasn't part of the official colour coding. It does make it clearer that the pairs aren't thrown out which it would appear if a line just stopped. I had no problem telling turquoise from blue or green, orange (cttt) from red (ctct) in the ground on this lace was a totally different story Susan -- Susan Roberts Sent from my iPhone Website: www.susanroberts.info > On 18 Sep 2017, at 22:04, jowrote: > > Thanks fort this exhaustive list.
