2017-12-22 Thread Elizabeth Ligeti.
Carolina that is a beautiful card and greeting. Thank you.

I send all on the Arachne list Best Wishes for a Happy Christmas and all the
very best for the New Year.
I just hope 2018 goes a bit slower than 2017 - which seems to have flown
by!!

Thank you all for your help, information, and friendship. Getting the Digest
is always a pleasure, and there is so much knowledge out there, and you are
sll so generous with sharing . Lacemakers are the Nicest people!!

Regards from Liz. Down Under in Melbourne, Oz, - where it is nice and warm and
sunny!

[lace] Winding Idrija Bobbins

2017-12-22 Thread Lin Hudren
i have a small - not very powerful - rechargeable drill. i got this for
$10 at Walmart. it is light weight and not very large. it serves as a
regular tool for drilling and using as an electric screwdriver as well.
but it can travel with you if you might need to wind more away from home.

it turns both ways so bobbins can be wound either way. you just put the
body of the bobbin into the area where a drill bit or screwdriver bit would
go. be careful not to tighten too much so you don't mar the bobbin. i
have unspangled midland bobbins if i plan to use a lot of them. but it is
possible with care to just nip the end below the holes for the spangle
too. it also restores the wire wear and tear if i do change the spangle.
anyway, any continental bobbin fits - Danish are tricky and not all work.
you can go slower than with the regular power tool. but the more heavy
duty power tool works as well but turns faster so is not controlled as
well. you can do bursts as well. i am more a continual slow wind.

enjoy.

Hugs, Lin and the Mali
