[lace] Lace Museum & Lacis

2018-11-28 Thread Elizabeth Ligeti
While at Sacramento for the IOLI convention a few years ago, the Wednesday
bus tour was to the Lace Museum in the morning, and Lacis in the afternoon –
an absolute Feast!!!It was just the Best Day Out!!

Try to do both if you can. We were fed our sandwich lunch on the bus as it
travelled from the Lace Museum in the south to Lacis in the north – so it
did not take too long for that part of the journey.

I would not want to pick one above the other – they were both Gems.
The Museum had a display, and lots of drawers in cabinets to investigate, and
a shop for some goodies, - and not enough time to spend drooling over some
superb lace!!
Lacis – well, that was like an Aladdin’s Cave! Book, supplies for every
type of lace, there were items hanging from the ceiling, - you name it – it
was there! Then we discovered a staircase at the side (outside) which
took us up to a display room which was being set up for a display of lacer
items – I cannot remember details, -- but Lots of eye-candy there!!!

Regards from Liz.

[lace] Lace, not Lace

2018-11-28 Thread Devon Thein
I was at the museum yesterday. They told me that the mayor of Clinton
had brought Corey Booker to the museum and showed him the Carriage of
Lost Love and that Corey was very interested and appreciative. Corey
Booking is one of our two senators from the State of New Jersey.
Also, they said that they did some analysis and had determined that
5000 people have visited the museum since the Lace, not Lace show
opened in September. While this includes people who came for classes
and yoga, these attendees often look at the exhibits. So, it would
appear that the goal of exposing contemporary fiber art made in lace
techniques to the general public is succeeding.

Whether this is a tendency of bobbin lace makers or

No debate. It's a property of people in general.
