[lace] Question
Has anyone made Christine Mirecki’s Dreiecktuck Natalie? I am trying to finish it but the edge patterns do not match the body of the shawl? RE: [lace] Knit in Public Day
Possibility some tatters also? Charlotte in Georgia, USA -Original Message- From: owner-l...@arachne.com [mailto:owner-l...@arachne.com] On Behalf Of lacel...@frontier.com Sent: Saturday, June 07, 2014 2:38 AM To: lace_arachne.com Subject: [lace] Knit in Public Day My local paper has a Knit in Public demo listed on Sept. 14. They invite knitters, crocheters, and spinners. It's listed as a recognition of fiber arts. Fiber arts.Lace would fit in there. I think I may just take my pillow and chair, and join in, providing it's not raining that day . It should get some attention. By the way, I researched Knit in Public Day (USA version), and it's really a long week -- Sept 14 to Sept 22. Is anyone else involved in this? Lace in Public Day is not until September so it might be fun to join the knitters. The restaurant staff felt terrible and the hostess ran to get some seltzer, which they applied to the spot, assuring me that all would be well. I wasn't terribly concerned about the blouse because it had been successfully dry cleaned in such cases before, but I let them put on the seltzer because it seemed to make them feel better. When I took the silk blouse to the cleaner he shook his head sadly saying that the oily spot would have been removable but the seltzer had ruined the blouse. The cleaner tried to get the seltzer spot out, but it remained. I had to throw the blouse away. I guess the lesson from this is, restaurant staff are not experts on stain removal. Of course, as restaurant staff their greater aim was to project the image that they had solved the problem they had created, so they got high marks for that. Costly for me, though. RE: [lace] Binche at IOLI Convention
Kumiko is a fantastic teacher and designer! -Original Message- From: owner-l...@arachne.com [mailto:owner-l...@arachne.com] On Behalf Of Janice Blair Sent: Monday, June 03, 2013 12:23 PM To: lace Subject: [lace] Binche at IOLI Convention I tried to post this from my gmail account and I haven't seen it so I decided to post again, sorry if it gets duplicated. I am on digests and it was not in the last one. Some of you may have heard that Anny Noben Sleger will not be at convention this year. She had an operation this month and will probably still be recuperating. The exciting news is that Kumiko Nakazaki from Japan has agreed to take over for Anny. Kumiko teaches in Michigan and Florida, so she is familiar to many lacemakers in the US. There are three places open at the convention in the Binche class in Salt Lake City so if you know anyone who might be interested in taking a class with her, please let them know. You can check out information at Beehive Lacers website https://sites.google.com/site/beehivelacers/home/ The information will still be under Anny's name and the class number will remain the same at AP002. This is a 24 hour class and Kumiko will take beginners so long as they can read drawings. Suggested supplies are round or square pillow, continental bobbins, 70/2 to 140/2 Egyptian cotton and fine long pins. A few classes were canceled, but many are being held that have some spaces, so if you are still thinking about coming to convention this summer, now is the time to sign up.Janice -- Janice Blair IOLI Convention Teacher Coordinator Janice Blair Crystal Lake, 50 miles northwest of Chicago, Illinois, USA www.jblace.com http://www.lacemakersofillinois.org - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. Re: [lace] Conventions
I agree. Having regional meetings would be an excellent idea. If conventions are so far from lace members and basically only certain sections of the country are well represented then they are the ones making decisions. I like the idea of proxy voting. That way all members have a voice in decisions. Several of the teachers from overseas make arrangements with local groups to teach either before or after convention so hopefully they would not have a problem with teaching at say 2 conventions and maybe alternate groups on a 2 year rotation.
