RE: [lace] block pillows and BL scarves

Yes, I made a scarf on a large Flemish pillow. Two blocks one 30 X 20
and the other 30 X 10 cm. A Jane Atkinson Torchon pattern from one of
the first Lace express magazines.

I used large continental bobbins and some selfmade from sticks with
beads glued on. 58 pairs in total.

I had no problems working the lace or with the mixture of bobbins.

Subject: [lace] block pillows and BL scarves

Hi everyone
I'd like to hear comments from anyone who has made a bobbin lace scarf
on a
block pillow. I set up a pattern on my block pillow and soon moved it to
a
large bolster. However it is not a straightforward pattern and it
continues
to hang in place, a long term work in progress (waah) - I'm wondering if
I'm
mad to think of starting another on the block pillow again (answer - of
course I am - but the pattern will be more like a huge bookmark than the
one
that has stalled, which has a zigzag configuration) - maybe I should use
different bobbins.

If you have made a bobbin lace scarf, what type of bobbins did you use?
and
if on a block pillow was it one with wide blocks, necessarily?

I got the following tip from Lenka Suchanek before attending her wire class
in Spain 2002:
In carpet shops you can buy a rubber like mesh to keep carpets from slipping
on tiles. Put this underneath a lightweight pillow to keep it from moving.

I have used this since attending that class underneath my polystyrene pillow
and it works.
