Hello, In the past time, in France, traditionnal tulle work was sometime on silk or organza tulle. Me I just use some time silk thread on cotton tulle with my needle or my hook. I don't wash after made. I just wash when it's traditonnal work for cloth because after we need to put starch?(amidon)to be strong. To work, you can put plastic on like in needlelace. Me as I work on a frame? (métier) if I use hook or hook and needle as a oilcloth? (toile cirée) under the pattern if I use only needle. Sorry I'm not at home and I don't have dictionnary with me to help me to translate. I have pictures of a small very modern piece on silk thread with me on my usb key if you want I send it to you. Le Puy and Brioude are nice town to walk, lots of nice shop and old think to look.
