[lace] 2017 Arachne Bookmark Exchange website

2017-06-10 Thread Jenny Brandis
G'day everyone,

The 2017 Arachne Bookmark exchange website is almost ready to be online (70
of the expected 79 pages are ready) as I am just waiting on the final 6
emails with scans/photos and details. Lin will be contacting those who I am
missing shortly.

The intention is to have the site go live next weekend so if you have not
got your scans and lace details in, please do so during the week.

2017-05-29 Thread Lin Hudren
Arachneans, it is almost time to be sure your bookmarks are ready to mail.
Please remember to scan or photograph your bookmark before sending it off
in the mail and send a copy of it to Jenny Brandis at je...@brandis.com.au.
An acknowledgement of Jenny's hard work in your email of your scan will be
greatly appreciated by me too. If you have mailed it and did not get a
photo to Jenny, please ask your partner to send Jenny (and you) a scan or
photograph. If you have received one and are not sure if your partner
scanned it before mailing, please just scan or photo it and send a copy to
Jenny. Better to have two rather than none. Jenny has skills that make
this awesome. Thank all of you for making this the most successful
exchange so far. I greatly appreciate your confidence and support in my
doings. Any info you wish to share with Jenny about the bookmark you made
will augment the web pages and possibly teach a few of us a bit more about
lace techniques. This definitely is optional and not required - just a
thought as Jenny makes her web pages more informative each time she gifts
us with her work. Jenny tells me that she has almost all the photos
already but just a few missing. I will follow up with you in a week or so
to make sure Jenny has everyone's lovely bookmark to include.

For those who were not able to join in the fun this year for extenuating
circumstances, I do hope you are able to vicariously enjoy the activity by
viewing Jenny's hard work in providing us with a view of the awesome work
of lacers world wide. There is no down side to sharing lace or even
enjoying the satisfaction of seeing your work evolve.

Thank all of you for being a part and making this year's bookmark exchange
worthy. Your continued support encourages hosting this event.

Hugs, Lin and the Mali

2017-05-02 Thread Lorri Ferguson
Catching up today after my daughter's wedding on Sat. and in the mail I
received a lovely Pt. Ground bookmark from Jacqui Southworth. Completely
laminated for unlimited use, it has yellowgimp flowers with orange centers and
green gimpcircles and triangles around the honeycomb edging motifs.

Very lovely, I will be able to use it often. Thank you Jacqui!!

2017-04-25 Thread Lin Hudren
I would like to take a moment to say I am thankful, amazed and so pleased
at the participation in this year's bookmark exchange. Your participation
has made this a most active exchange. It just is one more example of how
wonderful and sharing Arachneans are. It is going to be a lot of work for
Jenny but she will show us once again just how great she is and how
creative her web pages turn out. I cannot wait to see what she does this
year (she doesn't allow me a sneak peek - boo hoo!). Each year she goes
one step further to not only show us what has occurred but to help us learn
as well. Please share kudos with her as you share your projects. Thank
you.

I hope your bookmarks are evolving to your satisfaction. I do so love
making bookmarks because they are gifts that are enjoyed all year long by
yourself and others. I am doing a project I have wanted to do for many
years for two lovely people and their bible study groups. This has been
slow in the doing but I believe will be happily received.

Thank you, again, for participating and I hope you will continue to do
so. I know I have expanded my learning and been inspired with the
exchanges of the past. Fortunately bookmarks are 24/7/365 so there are
wonderful memories all year long. I use more than one at a time as they go
into lace books, cook books, novels and even magazines. When I open that
book or magazine, I get a treat and remember fondly where that one
originated and can admire the awesomeness of the lacing.

It is awesome to have responses already that bookmarks are being received
this early. Oh what fun. Mine will be posted this week. It will be a
great time watching the mail from now on.

Once more Jenny has gifted us with another new and wonderful touch. She is
letting us know who is sending in photos of the bookmarks already made.
Please do not feel pressured tho because your bookmarks do not have to be
mailed until "only by June 1st". She is just telling us how her web pages
are developing. What a tease. 😉

Enjoy and please watch for Jenny's web page availability announcement.
Thank you.

Hugs, Lin and the Mali

[lace] 2017 Arachne Bookmark Exchange

2017-03-17 Thread Lin Hudren
We are down to the last days for sign ups for the bookmark exchange but
don't worry if you are a day or so behind. I will make it happen. Just
contact me (*linhud...@gmail.com *) and it will be
worked out. Also, if you are delayed in mailing your bookmark to your
partner, let your partner and me know so we can take the worry out of the
wonderful anticipation. This is to be FUN not a job or chore. I will be
sending out the exchange partner pairings in a day or so - no later than
3/20 but sooner if able. I am always anxious to know who will be getting
my bookmark and what far away place I will be receiving mail from. But if
you were on holiday or didn't see the announcement until the last minute -
join in anyway. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I believe there is time
to get a bookmark made and in the mail by June 1st.

This year the schedule will go like this:

March 1-18 Sign Ups

March 20 Exchange partner assignments made and emailed out

June 1 All bookmarks should be in the mail (receipt by 7-10 days
after this)

Please send me your name, snail mailing address, email address, how many
bookmark(s) you wish to make and any geographical location(s) you prefer,
if any. Thank you.

If this is your first time, you are going to have lots of pleasure. If you
have been doing this for years, you know how much fun it can be. Any type
of lace and pattern is appropriate. Any skill level is welcome. This is
"creative license" at its best. Don't be shy - shine. May the lace bug
bite for lots of fun.

Hugs, Lin and the Mali

Wow, what a wonderful response so far and many days yet to join in the
fun. I wish to thank those who have been responsive so far for your faith
in me doing the job. I hope many more of you will join in the fun. There
is nothing like the sense of accomplishment for making a project happen.
Bookmarks are treasures in life and bring smiles to all who use and/or
admire them and share the pleasure of a gift from afar with those near.

If you are curious, you can go to:
http://brandis.com.au/arachne/2015bookmarks/index.html
 or
http://brandis.com.au/arachne/2016bookmarks/index.html
 or
http://brandis.com.au/arachne/2013bookmarks/index.html
 to view previous
years' exchanges. There are many more browsing opportunities for ideas
and/or just to drool and get inspired. Jenny graciously devotes her time
and energy to allowing all of us to see what, as a group, we
accomplish. If you have not signed up yet, come join in the fun.

As a reminder, this year the schedule will go like this:

March 1-18 Sign Ups

March 20 Exchange partner assignments made and emailed out

June 1 All bookmarks should be in the mail

Same guidelines apply as the previous bookmark and card exchanges: send in
name, snail mail address, email address, how many bookmarks you want to
make and any geographical preferences to me at *linhud...@gmail.com
*. After making your bookmark(s) please take a
picture and email directly to Jenny Brandis (je...@brandis.com.au) who once
again is a dear heart and will be posting all on her web site or to me (
linhud...@gmail.com). If you wonder if your partner was able to send in a
photo of her bookmark to you, just send one upon receipt and Jenny will
make sure everyone is represented.

If you have any questions or preferences, please feel free to email me
linhud...@gmail.com.

This is just too much fun for one person to take by themselves. Come take
a bit of it for yourself. Happy lacemaking.

Hugs, Lin and the Mali

2017-03-03 Thread Lin Hudren
Hello Everyone.

I would like to thank all those participants in the bookmark exchange the
last years. We had an awesome turnout which just adds to the wonderfulness
of Aracheans. Let's let the fun begin again. Bookmarks can be used all
year long so they are cherished all year with fond memories.

This year the schedule will go like this:

March 1-18 Sign Ups

March 20 Exchange partner assignments made and emailed out

June 1 All bookmarks should be in the mail, please

Same rules apply as the previous bookmark and card exchanges: send in
name, snail mail address, email address, how many bookmarks you wish to
make and any geographical preferences to me at *linhud...@gmail.com
*. After making your bookmark(s) please take a
picture and email directly to Jenny Brandis (je...@brandis.com.au) who once
again is a dear heart and will be posting all on her web site. If you
wonder if your partner was able to send in a photo of her bookmark to you,
just send a photo upon receipt and Jenny will make sure everyone is
represented. We will be following up to make sure we get photos of all of
them so if you think you will have a problem, just let me know. Thanks.

Last year Jenny updated all the patterns submitted to her on the bookmark
and card exchange web pages. If you submit your pattern to her, I am sure
she will be most happy to add that to the accumulation from over the
years. These are much appreciated for inspiration and eye candy. Thank
you.

Any problems, just let me know. If you are going to be late, please let
your partner and myself know. If you have to drop out for some reason,
please personally contact me (linhud...@gmail.com) as soon as possible so I
can ensure everyone has a partner. Thank you.

If this is your first time or you are participating for an additional time,
you are going to have lots of fun. Any type of lace and pattern is
appropriate. Any skill level is welcome. This is creative license at its
best. Don't be shy. This is your time to shine.

Thanks and enjoy as much as I plan to.

Hugs, Lin and the Mali
