Thank you for arranging the commemoratives. I’ve ordered.

Happy lacemaking

I too love Stuart Johnson bobbins, I got 4 from him at our recent Laceday, they
have inlaid in the shaft a type of resin that looks like marble, they are
beautiful. He also made our commemoratives for the Laceday.

Could we please make sure that whomever we pick will do continentals as well
as midlands?  I didn't see any Binche or Bayeux or anything other than
midlands on Stuart Johnson's site.  I'd like to get a bobbin that I could use
on my pillow, and I use only Binche or Bayeux.  The painter that
Antje suggested, Alison Tolson, appears to paint continentals--at least
Bayeux based on the photos on her web-site, and I know Chris Parsons does
several continental styles.

While he's great I reckon Stuart JOHNSON is better.

Noelene,

Does anyone know what date is our 20th anniversary?

I think Tamara night know. I reckon it was around May and I joined in Nov 1995.

Might I suggest Chris Parsons in the UK be approached to do a commemorative
bobbin, and we could all purchase direct from him? He did a beautiful one
for us before.

I love coming across my commem bobbins as I work.

I'm never alone when I sit at my lace
Every bobbin I own is a friend
And brings back to my mind some special time
When over my pillow I bend.

I'm with Liz, would love to add a commerative Arachne bobbin to my pillow.
But really wouldn't know where to begin to actually get something like this
organized.

It is hard to believe in light of how email groups have changed over the
years, that this one has made it. I have appreciated this group, helping
each other figure out how to work lace, thread sizes, and the challenges
life has throw at us. I'm so glad I found Arachne Web, low these many
years ago.

Does anyone know if there are to be commemorative bobbins produced for it?

[lace] Commemoratives

2006-01-26 Thread JIM PRUITT
Hi all!
I read the messages about the commemoratives, and I thank you all for the
nice things you all said. I agree that we should see if there is any
interest from anyone else wanting to put a bid in. I would be doing what I
had done in the past, offer two different woods, Maple and Ebony, with the
body painted with the "Arachne.com" and "11th Anniversary". The "Member
since 19?" would be an option, that would probably run $1 extra. The
regular prices would be $5 and $9 otherwise.
If there is anyone out there who would like to give a bid, why don't you let
us know, and I will take the bids, and then see if I can ask a impartial
third party to give their opinion on who should get the bid.
 Thanks!

[lace] Commemoratives for Australia

2005-04-05 Thread Noelene Lafferty
I've just received my pair of commem bobbins direct from Roseground
in the UK, and am very happy with them.

For any Australians wishing to order through me, I'll set a closing date
of 30th April for orders, although I will of course send any orders
made through me on to Jo-Anne or to Roseground direct immediately
I receive them. I just think there should be a "order by" date stated.

If anyone's mislaid their email containing what's on offer, there's a copy
of it with Australian prices on my website, address below

When do the Commemoratives come out? I placed an order ages ago, and had a
feeling they came out in July, but I have not seen anything about them.
