[lace] postcards

2011-06-28 Thread hottleco
Hello All! Has anyone mounted lace on fabric postcards sent them thru the
mail? Did they arrive unscathed? I'm also trying to contact exchange
participants in groups #2, 6, 9, 10, 11. If you're in one, would you please
contact me off list? Thanks. Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Erie, PA USA

HI Susan and everyone

My free advice is ... don't. Paste a colour photocopy of the lace to
the card, or compose a picture with the lace that you print yourself,
adjust/trim to postcard size.

Send your real lace inside an envelope ;)

I've not tried lace on a postcard, but I have a friend who stitches her own
postcards and mails them. She says they have always arrived fine. She
advises taking them to the post office and having them hand stamped /
franked there

Re: [lace] postcards

Anything stuck to the outside of a piece of mail is subject to
whatever processes the piece goes through - there is the chance card
and lace will get mangled or smeared along the way, especially in
sorting machinery. Whether it is worth the chance depends on the
sender.

Re: [lace] postcards

2011-06-28 Thread bertrans1
My suggestion is to put the card with lace attaché into an envelope mail. It
is safer that way. However, when I was a child my pen friend from England sent
me a card from Brugge. The girls apron is lace. The card is covered with
something like cling wrap and it arrived safe.
Hope this helps.

Oh Dear Bev! I believe you have issued a challenge! My question comes from
having made sent crazy quilted fabric postcards that arrived in good order
were well received by the addressees. Naturally I assumed that lace would work
too but hoped to leap frog on someone else's experience. Yet another
project... Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Erie, PA USA

2 years ago I painted postcards and mailed them to my daughter. They all got
smeared/rubbed on some spot.
I like the idea of an envelope for protection./
