Re: [lace] Project complete - Wedding penny

Hello Spiders All,

I had a little silver three-penny bit sewn into my wedding dress - the
something old was a prayer book, the new was the dress (and accoutrements!) and
the something borrowed was a handkerchief from my sister.  These old traditions
don't die, do they - my 47th wedding anniversary was last Tuesday, the 2nd
September, and we were very fortunate.   We had a wedding in the Roman Catholic
church, then a blessig ceremony in my Anglican church, so it was a very
exciting day indeed.    I have since made several lace garters for family and
friends, and regret not making lace, or knowing anything about bobbin lace,
when I married, as I might well have made a garter for myself!

too. But not the last line. As old I had a handkerchief with lace around not
bobbin neither needle lace it was "only" crochet but it was done from myself
when I was a child. For new I took my dress and the shoes, the underwear and
the coiffure. I can't remember what the borrowed and the blue were. And the
shoes were paid with pennies (German Pfennige) and not wore in the shoe. How
can you dance with a penny in there? Garters aren't in use in Germany.
And me too will have our Wedding anniversary this month but the 39th.
