Re: [lace] RE: the new book from Martina Wolter-Kampmann & happy birthday Arachne

I have Martina's book and it is more than interesting.
Ulrike likes to finish her laces with knots in the traditional way and
Martina teaches how to do it with magic threads and using other quite
interesting methods. For me Martina's 'Invisible' is a step forward in
achiving tidy finishes. The explanations in the book are clear but if you
have still any doubt, there is the DVD (in German and English) to help you.

2011-04-15 Thread Louise Bailey
Dear Arachnes,

This looks a very interesting book - tidy finishes are one of the reasons I
avoid mats & handkerchiefs! Has anyone had a chance to see how it compares to
Ulrike Lohr's 'beginning of the end'?

Looking back at my email archive (I do clean it out regularly but keep most
arachne stuff) I see I joined in 1996 - gulp that means I've been making lace
about that long. Finding Arachne was a great boon, and I learnt a lot and have
met some lovely people through it. I still appreciate finding the email
digests when I come into work - it keeps me sane! Thanks Liz, and everyone for
keeping it going.

Louise

In Cambridge - with signs of spring - primroses, cowslips and bluebells not to
mention the May blossom stating early. My mother told me her mother said it was
unlucky to bring Hawthorn into the house except in May - but she was thinking
of June not April!
