Dear All,

perhaps three parts of those cards.
All names arriving on my private e-mail address come into the hat and DP pull
out the winner at midnight the 29. of august 2015.
Good luck

[lace] Re: Raffle winners (White Lace Hot Pads for holiday table)

2012-04-06 Thread Susan Reishus
Sorry...I was gone quite awhile helping my parents.  I just got the message
and sent Sue the info.

Thank you so much, Sue!!!

The only lace I got done
are crocheted white lace hot pads that a friend had seen from Norway on
Pinterest.
I thought they would look pretty on the holiday table, since you
never have enough for serving dishes, and I think calling them 'hot pads' is
dishonoring, as they are so pretty (trivets have legs, but sound more
befitting).  I think they can even be put over silicone squares or other hot
pads if the dish is really hot.

My mother handed me a full bag of the same
crochet thread (same dye lot even!) that a Bernina dealer gave her but she
doesn't crochet, so I may end up with them all conjoined into a coverlet or
huge doily centerpiece!   :)

Happy Pesach and Easter, everyone!

Best,
Susan

[lace] Re: Raffle Winners

2007-09-18 Thread Beth Stoll
Brenda, I'm so excited to have won the raffle and be getting the latest
version of your book. I've found Threads for Lace Version 3 to be most
useful, particularly over the last few months.

The Enchanted Lacemakers are in the second week of demonstrating at the New
Mexico state fair. We have had a demo pillow for several years, but it's a
simple bookmark in whole stitch. Thanks to the Arachne list, I found a make
and take project from the Lacemakers of Puget Sound that Julie Enevoldsen
has so beautifully presented at
http://weft.wlonk.com/lacefishdemo/index.htm. Not having the DMC perle 8 on
hand, but with plenty of DMC craft thread (slightly larger than perle 5)
left over from another project, Threads for Lace Version 3 gave me the way
to determine that 170% of the original was what was needed. The make and
take is definitely a hit with the children; and the largest crowd gathered
when one little girl was making hers this afternoon.

It was fun to show people that with the same basic stitch and number of
bobbins that you could make things as different looking as the basic
bookmark, the fish, or the apple from Fukuyama's 100 New Bobbin Lace
patterns. Haven't got a lot done on the Flanders hankie edging on my
pillow, but a lot of people learned more about lace. Next month we
demonstrate at the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe, in
conjunction with their exhibit entitled "Needles and Pins: Textiles and
Tools." It will be interesting to see what sort of reaction the make and
take fish draws in the very different venue.

2007-06-03 Thread Ilske Thomsen

Hello Lacefriends,
Today at 12.00 European time was the end of the Hugarian stamp raffle.
I am bit a late because I had to celebrate the 60. anniverairy, the 59.
year of painting and the 30. year of working as art-teacher of "my"
art-teacher Claudia.
But coming home I mixed again all the noumerus little papers with names
on them.

And the winner is:

Rosemary Horr.

Congratulations. Rosemary you still wrote your adress so I'll bring the
letter tomorow to the post office.

And all the others, don't be sad perhaps next time you are the winner.
Greetings

Ilske

[lace] Re: Raffle and others

2007-05-26 Thread Ilske Thomsen

Hello Lacefriend,
the list is a bit quiet and I was quiet too. Why? from easter till
last sunday I was away four times. i know I wrote only about
Kiskunhalas. After that I was in Rimini - Italia Invita. I liked my
stay there very much, I met a lot of lovely people "old" ones and "new"
but i have difficulties to tell you about. I think for embroiderers
and for needle lace people it's like paradise. For bobbin lace makers
it' depends on what? I can't describe it I am afraid to give a wron
impression. So please forgive me when I am not more precise. But I hab
a wonderful time except the flight from Hamburg, Germany to Rome, Italy
but this hasn't to do anything with Italia Invita.
This event take part every second year so if you are intereted you have
to wait a little bit.

But the next international festivals in Europe in 2007 are

from 21. - 23 june in Presov-Sol'ná Bana in Slovakia

from 15. - 19. september in Annaberg, Germany

And there is a third but I can't find the paper, I'll tell you later.

Now the raffle:
I have three Hungarian stamps belonging together. From 2002 and
showing doilies in Halas-lace.
If you want to win them write your name to me privately latest sunday
2. june 2007 12.00 german time. DP will pull out of "the hat" one name

I'll send the stamps in every corner of the world it's a simple letter.
Good luck

Ilske

The original drawings that inspired the lace I meant were easy to find:

But I'm afraid that is not what you want.

Gon Homburg has made them from lace or knows someone who did, but it
is neither on her website nor on her blog.

Traditional clothing is what I was looking for. If you are able to
help find the book you mention then that would be a great help.

Be careful with those duplicates :)

Several years ago, when the embroidered Swiss "lace" stamp was issued,
I wrote to my "Swiss connection" and she bought a whole lot of them for
me. I then kept one and raffled off the rest -- some 20 in all.

The other day, I needed to check something in my collection, and the
Swiss stamp *wasn't there*. An Italian one -- issued later but made
using the same technique -- was in its slot, but not the Swiss one.
Total panic! :)

Finally, I did find the Swiss one -- it slipped and hid behind a stack
of (non-textile) albums -- but, in the future, I'll keep more than one,
especially if it's unique (or pretty much so)

2005-06-06 Thread Brenda Paternoster

Hello Beth

Brenda,
Count me in please!

I'm still baffled by threads -- and if the spool folks would devise a
way
to keep track of the tread info when we take off the wrapper, I'd be
even
happier. I've discovered that I successfully managed to mix threads
on my

"forever" project. Too late now to take them out I guess "these
things happen" when one works on a project intermittantly!!
Beth

I've put your name into the raffle along with all the others.

As far as keeping labels with spools I always push the label inside the
spool - works with most reels and spools, but not for the balls that
most crochet cottons and pearl cottons come packaged as. Try either an
elastic band around teh ball and label, or make a small hole in the
label and tie it to the end of the thread.
