[lace] Sulky

2010-04-08 Thread Lorelei Halley
Mark
I first heard about Sulky several years ago when someone posted a note about
it on arachne. So I've been on the lookout ever since. They make threads of
different fiber content, but they do have size 30 and size 12 in 100% cotton,
both in many colors and many variegated colors (what they call blendables).
Apparently both are used by quilters. I have some of the size 12 and it is
really beautiful thread. I found an online American source:

[lace] Sulky threads...

2005-06-14 Thread Clay Blackwell
Hello Spiders -

Not long ago, there was some interest on this list regarding the threads made
by Sulky, and their applications in lace. I just came across this link which
will give you lots of information about their threads, as well as their
thread-storage box which has also been mentioned...

The Sulky Blendables are ordinary sewing-machine-size threads (probably
40- or 50-weight sewing cotton).

Hi Brenda,

Actually the uniqueness is in the color, rather than the thread. The
Blendables are the same size as Sulky cotton 12 and 30 count, so if you have
those, the Blendables are the same.

[lace] Sulky cottons

2005-06-08 Thread Janice Blair
Hi Sue,
I had to look what was meant by bendable threads as I hadn't had any trouble
bending my thread. :-) Now I can see that you meant blendable. I wonder if
Brenda has these in her next version 3 book? I can see she will spend the rest
of her life bringing out updates. :-)
Janice

One of my new students is a quilter really, and she brought some of the
Sulky bendable to class to see what I thought of them. They look
beautiful
and feel nice . See http://tinyurl.com/alty7 or Hancock's of Paducah's
website for the colour range.

[lace] Sulky cottons

2005-06-08 Thread Sue Babbs

Has anyone tried using Sulky's cottons for lacemaking and how did it work?

I can see I'm going to have to get some to try. Tamara - don't even look or
your pocket snake will be very unhappy :)
