Yesterday I borrowed a book that an Estonian lacemaker bought last year when she went to Germany. It is called "Torchon Spitzen-Technik" & I found it on Holly Van Sciver's web-site for $119.95. The book comes with a pattern folder of 5 big sheets of patterns & color-coded working diagrams printed on both sides. Holly also sells a separate English translation which makes it a pricey item.

I would describe this book as a good resource for someone who is just learning as there is a bit of history as well as a range of patterns from simple to challenging, but not too complex. In the beginning of the book there are simple sampler patterns which help the beginner lacemaker learn the basics of Torchon. And in the back are some reconstructions of old pieces of lace.

Now I have to get a new project started.
Pene in Estonia, where it's autumn already
