Re: [lace] Website update
I just took a look at your site which is great, also took time to play the video of you working the leaves. I also have had to learn to do them on the pillow but this was such a simple way and you have a few tiny little things that made them work so well, look so easy and take out the stress factor of working them so thank you for putting them on. Sue T Dorset UK, again sunshine here too but due for some low temps by the weekend Just the sort of weather to stay in and make lace, grin I've been slowly working my way down a long 'to-do' list and at the weekend I finally got to the item 'update website'. I have added several items, changed some things and moved some items from Articles to a new section for Techniques where which also includes a video of how I make tallies. The only section with no changes is Books and DVDs (but there will be something new there next year). No patterns this time but there may be something when I update the Lace Guild website at the end of the month. Jean in Glasgow where the sun shone today but rain is promised for tomorrow. --- Jean Leader http://www.jeanleader.co.uk - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

RE: [lace] website update
Dear Jenny, Your filet crochet looks OK to me, I do lots (buy yarn by the box, not by the ball). Filet crochet usually requires to be blocked to look its best after completion. You may have an understanding of what blocking is, if not get back to me. I have a board covered by some batting (used in quilting) and checked material which makes the process easier. I might as well describe it briefly - wet the lace in some starch solution and pin into shape before it dries, leave to dry and you will be surprised with the difference. I have done some quite large pieces, for Altar frontals, and have to block them section by section. If I have to do that I use a spray water bottle to dampen the next section when the first is dry. Hope this helps. I have a large library of patterns if you want to try more. [lace] website update
Hello one and all Just a brief note to let you know that I have updated my website http://www.brandis.com.au/craft/lace/index.html to include my Stage One Proficiencies for the Australian Lace Guild and June efforts. I have just read the stage two proficiencies and I think it is going to take me a bit of hard work to get it done in the next 9 months so am rethinking it. :-) The garter is finished and I am in the process of pricking a matching hanky edge - will see how I go as to if I get it done in time for the wedding in four weeks. I intend to add more info to the proficiencies page in the hope that someone can learn from my 'variations' (can't say mistakes now can I?) as well as the origin of the prickings in case you want to have a go too.
