[lace] oh no

2014-01-30 Thread laceviolins_52
I remember a few weeks ago watching a demonstration on do a short row heel that
involved safety heels and another one that used bobby pins.argh I can't
find where I put it. Can anyone help me? please? It looked very easy and there
did not seem to be holes and no awful wraps. Thank you if you can

The second one sounds like Japanese short rows. My favourite
demonstrator is Verypink
http://verypink.com/2013/12/31/japanese-short-rows/ she uses clippie
markers instead of bobby pins, but it's the same effect. I remember
seeing other heel techniques on her site too so maybe she also does
safety heels (tho I don't know what those are)

Not a 'foreigner' but bobby pins are hair grips. Dunno what safety
heels are tho.

I suspect it's a typo and she meant safety pins

2014-01-31 Thread Bev Walker
Hello Becca and everyone

I think Sue is right, you probably mean safety pins.
I was intrigued by the use of bobby pins. I found an example:
http://deborahsknitting.com/images/tips/wrapturn.jpg

deborahsknitting.com has a lot of other ideas.

At first I thought you meant reinforced heel not safety heel - I use a
nylon thread in the short rows for reinforcing. Worked well on a pair of
*lace socks* I made.
FWIW when I do short rows I knit the wrapped thread at the time, no need
for dangly markers, and it draws in the work nearby to avoid a hole.

privately to Becca in Utah, asking for clarification. We'll just have to
wait for a reply from her. She is in another time zone, and may be at work
