Dear Arachnes, I'm getting very interested in needlelace and am working on my first sampler. In many of the books I've acquired, the authors refer to a tool called a afficot, a wooden tool for polishing threads, mostly in Gros Point de Venise. They say that poor lacers also made them out of lobster claws attached to a wooden handle. Are they necessary? and available? I sure don't find much when I Google the word.
