How lovely!!
It would seem to me that fashioning a large needle from many easily
found objects would be possible... From a plain dowel in the width and
length desired, put into a pencil sharpener to get the points, and then
use fine sandpaper to smooth the edges and the points. A finish of
varnish at the end may make everything smoother. From a single wood
knitting needle of the size desired, cut off the end and sharpen to a
point, and then smooth with sandpaper and apply a finish.
