Re: [lace-chat] Krienek Japan Silver thread

2004-03-07 Thread David Collyer
Dear Janice,
Has anyone used Krienek Japan silver metallic thread? I bought a skein in
a haberdashery shop in England. Even though it is made in the U.S. I had
not seen it over here. Does anyone know if it tarnishes?
I've used both the silver and gold for tatted jewellery and there's been no
sign of tarnishing in about 5 years or so

[lace-chat] English embroideries?

2004-03-07 Thread Jean Peach
There might be one or two people who are interested
in the exhibition being held at the Ashmolean Museum
Oxford, England. This exhibition is on till the
28th March 2004. The heading is not what it seems
it is mainly what many people call "Stumpwork",
the pieces on display are from the museums collection
and are well worth seeing.

There is also a book been published on these embroideries
with the history of the pieces, cost 7 pounds 95 pence
well worth the price.

I have been to the Ashmolean web site, where there is
information about the exhibition.

[lace-chat] RE:somethings wrong

2004-03-07 Thread Lynne Cumming
And there I was thinking it was me!!! This morning I went to collect DD2
from a sleepover. As the car battery died the other week the car clock is
reading the wrong time so I went to look at my watch. Not there! I was sure
I'd put it on but when we got home I asked daughter to bring it downstairs.
She couldn't find it. Now panicking a bit I searched the bedroom, bathroom,
kitchen and even the car before I finally found my watch

on the other wrist!

OK so I'm menopausal..

think I'll have a quiet day

Lynne.

I have used this thread on a piece of canvaswork. I started the piece in
1996, and had it mounted in a frame in 1996 or 1997. It shows no signs of
tarnish.
