[lace-chat] :) Fwd: Talking Dog
A variation on an old theme, but one of my all-time favourites :) From: B.R. A guy is driving around and he sees a sign in front of a house: "Talking Dog For Sale." He rings the bell, and the owner tells him the dog is in the backyard. The guy goes into the backyard and sees a Labrador Retriever sitting there. "You talk?" he asks. "Yep," the Lab replies. "So, what's your story?" The Lab looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young, and I wanted to help the government; so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running." "But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I wanted to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security work, mostly wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired." The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog. "Ten dollars." The guy says, "This dog is amazing. Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?" "Because he's a liar. He didn't do any of that stuff." -- Tamara P Duvallhttp://t-n-lace.net/ Lexington, Virginia, USA (Formerly of Warsaw, Poland) To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace-chat [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[lace-chat] Raffle of Torchon Lace Purse Pendants
Hi Chatters, I haven't forgotten you! I have one copy of "Torchon Lace Purse Pendants" by Susanne Thompson to raffle off. Here's what I wrote to lace: One copy of "Torchon Lace - Purse Pendants" by Susanne Thompson ISBN 1-874688-09-5. Copies were donated to the New England Lace Group by Rosemarie Peel and they were for sale at the recent Retreat. It's got patterns for 10 pendants (like bookmarks with a hole in the middle, you fold them in half, attach the pointed ends and sides, put a chain on and you have a necklace that's a pouch! The 10 pendants have a different pattern on each side so you could make lots of different ones. I don't do BL but it does look like a good book for a beginner or more advanced lace maker. I'll pick the winner on June 18th. Here's Rosemarie's website: www.lacet-pubs.demon.co.uk where there is probably more information. To enter the raffle send me a direct e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "Torchon raffle" in the subject line. I'll mail anywhere in the world. There is no cost it's just fun for me to do and I sure get a lot of mail . Jane in Vermont, USA where a thunderstorm passed earlier and cooled things off. Re: [lace-chat] tatting tools ??
I agree - I, too, have just such tools for warping my loom. (A slim hook is also handy for threading a spinning wheel.) [lace-chat] SP Thank you!
Hello Lynn: It is nice to find out who you are, I have really enjoyed your SP packages. This month was also really great! I have always wanted a glass bobbin and a "mother & child" is just an added plus! It is so beautiful! I will send you a picture privately of my pillow with the bobbin and several of the others you have sent. It also has the bobbin pin, what a cute idea! Did you make it? I love the pocket calendar, I needed one for my purse. My really calendar is a daytimer and just too big for my purse, so this will come in really handy. The earrings are great, I've never seen purple hoops like that, I really like them. The beautiful material you included would be perfect as placemats or hankys. I believe that I have some pretty antique machine lace that would make a nice border for each one. When I make my coffee in the morning I will think of you as I drink it. Yummy, coffee creamers I have truly enjoyed having you as my Secret Pal. I will stay in touch.. Thanks! Rita Lloyd - Discover Yahoo! Get on-the-go sports scores, stock quotes, news & more. Strange unless you've ever warped a loom. These look just like the sleying hooks that came with the loom I inherited. The big one is flat, because although it's designed for fairly large thread, it has to pass through a hole in the heddle that is narrow side to side, as may be the reed slots. Here are some strange hooks. The seller says lace/tatting? [lace-chat] Re Pet accident
Thanks, Maxine. I knew there was a solution something like this - it's been on the tip of my tongue all weekend, but could I remember it :) From: "Maxine D" Try deodorizing with baking soda and water :-) Worked well when the children were small and did not always make it to the bathroom, or were "travel" sick. The car is smelling much sweeter now, but will carry on cleaning the seat cover for a while. My sincere thanks to everyone who responded to my plea for help; I knew list members would come up trumps :) Regards, Ann McClean in Llanmerewig, Mid-Wales, U.K. [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~~ My Collection of Lace Stamps of the World http://www.annmcclean.co.uk/ To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace-chat [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[lace-chat] Sharing Transport (U.K.)
Dear Lacemakers, a friend just recommended this website to me, http://www.liftshare.org/welcome.asp with so much enthusiasm that I thought I'd pass it on, (although I can't speak from my own personal experience). It's a way of finding and arranging lifts, and it might be useful for lacemakers who want to go to special events, but find the driving - or using public transport with lots of luggage - a bit daunting. With best (green) wishes, from Linda Walton, (in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, U.K., bidding to be gridlock capital of the country). [lace-chat] Travelling to Denver
DH is finally pulling out his finger & trying to organize plan tickets for me to get to Denver for the IOLI Convention, but I might have to spend a few nights in Chicago. I am trying to get in touch with DH's cousins who live there, but is there anyone who is willing & able to accommodate a lacemaker for a few nights? Please reply privately.
