[lace-chat] Secret Pal Thank You
Dear Secret Pal, Thank you for another great package this month. The compact is really neat - I haven't seen anything like it before and as I don't have a large purse, it'll be perfect. I'll be able to enjoy the candle while taking a bath. The little 'cards' are cute and will be put on display. I have a new pattern which I will be starting this week (I hope) and the pin cushion will come in very handy. And I have quite a few bobbins that need spangling so I can really use the spangling wire. I love the spangle you sent - the middle bead is gorgeous! Last month I forgot to thank you for the bookmark. My daughter put it in her book so quickly that I barely saw once it came out of the package! Thank you again and I'm looking forward to next month's surprises, Cindy Rusak To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace-chat [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[lace-chat] Commerative Contact People
Hi all! Commemorative time is almost here again. For those of you who haven't done this before, every year we have a vendor make up bobbins, tatting shuttles, and other goodies to commemorate the anniversary of Lace@arachne.com coming onto the web. This year I'm doing the bobbins, mainly because I asked if anyone minded, and the fact that no one else put in a bid. I'll be posting the info on my website in a couple of days, so we can start taking orders on April 1st. I am still looking for contact people for the various countries, Margaret Wall volunteered again for the UK, but I still need people for Australia, New Zealand, and other countries. Being a contact person means that you collect the money for the people in your country, help forward orders to me, and when all the orders are filled, send me the money. We usually figure out a way to do that that doesn't involve a big fuss for you. Please buzz me if you are interested, and THANK YOU!!! [lace-chat] Ancient embroidery?
Question below from another List -- does anyone happen to know of any references I could pass along? Many thanks, Ricki by flickering lights in windy Salt Lake City, where it's pelting rain and snow Can anyone point me in a good direction for information on ancient Greek and Roman embroidery? I have Pliny's and Homer's references. I'm looking for what we'd know about thread color, patterns, tools such as needles, types of stitches used, purposes for various designs, trends in styles, how various articles of clothing were embellished, what other types of things got embroidered... Basically everything. I would be particularly interested in the personal perspectives of data and theory by members of the list. [lace-chat] LOKK competiton
I just had a look at the free pattern for Easter egg decoration realized that it could also be put on a ball for a Christmas decoration. Then I wondered what 30 Jaar LOKK was about. When I clicked on it, there was an English flag behold The Four Elements appeared, which is the title of a competition to celebrate the 30th anniversary of LOKK. The competition details a there in a PDF http://www.lokk.nl/30jaarLOKK/WedstrijdDeVierElementen2008Engels.pdf but they want a photo of the finished piece to be sent with the registration the piece cannot have been exhibited before but non-members are allowed to enter. I might try to think of an idea for this. Lots of possibilities. The snow here in Tartu is starting to melt finally I'm giving a young deaf girl a tatting lesson today. Keep happy keep making lace, Pene To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace-chat [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
