[lace-chat] Bowes Museum Harrogate Lace Event

2007-03-01 Thread nicky.h-townsend

Hi
Later this month my DH and I shall be travelling north to visit both the
Bowes Museum and also the Harrogate Lace Event, really looking forward to
seeing the Blackbourne exhibition at the Bowes as I've heard so much about
it. It will also be nice to attend a lace suppliers fair that we've not been
to before.

I do have a couple of questions, firstly will there be any other arachneans
attending the Harrogate Lace Event on 24 March, it would be lovely to meet
you if you are going and perhaps have a chat over coffee; and can anyone
local to the area recommend a BB in the Castle Barnard area rather than
Harrogate, (I'm hoping to visit on both the Thursday Friday - DH hasn't
twigged that one yet!). Our last couple of forays using internet have turned
up a couple of interesting one night only and never again BB's, so I
thought I'd try and get a couple of personal recommendations instead.

Many thanks and hope to meet one or two of you at the Lace Event
best wishes
Nicky in Suffolk

The lucky winner is Margaret Holsinger.
My thanks to everyone else who entered, and my commiseration's on not
being lucky this time.

Fw: [lace-chat] Driving us mad

2007-03-01 Thread Melinda Weasenforth
Subject: [lace-chat] Driving us mad

Can anyone help my lace group? One of the Yellow Pages sponsorship scenes
that precedes the segments of the TV CSI group of programmes is driving us
 mad.

In one the stupid American detective says what he wants is ... and
some of those cute little jam rolls you British have at fancy parties.
What cute little jam rolls? What is he talking about? The only ones we can
think of are the small swiss rolls, sometimes with a jam filling, that are
sold in packs of six or so. But do we have those at fancy parties? If we
do, then I've never been to a fancy party.

 Hello all,

Well I have thought and thought about it and the only thing that I could come
up with is crumpets ?
That is the only thing British that I can think of.
Hugs, Lynn

I don't mind not being able to reach the top shelves -- I
can't read the prices on those shelves, so I don't regard
those items as being for sale.

It's nice to have the price ledge slanted, so that you can
read the labels on the bottom shelf without getting down on
hands and knees -- but you'd think they'd use a *different*
price ledge for the top shelf!

DH is fond of kipper snacks that are kept on the top
shelf. When they are in stock -- which they haven't been
for a long time -- I'll use my pocket mirror to read the tag.

And then stand on the bottom shelf to reach them.
