Yes, Brenda is right about the accents and the adjective, I just hadn't
thought of those, but one doesn’t refer to a person as a "Scouse" -
whatever the Cambridge dictionary says!! Cambridge is too far south to get
such details right. Having lived as a Northerner in the south of England
for 20 years, I was teased a lot about my Cheshire accent. I'm very glad it
wasn't a Liverpool one, even though I lived less than a mile from Liverpool.

I think Lancashire hot-pot always has the potatoes layered on the top,
whereas the way my Gran made Scouse it always had the potatoes stirred in
(and she never used lamb for Scouse, only hotpot)

I'd seen the joke before, and could imagine it happening for real too!

Again, not quite!

A Scouser is a Liverpudlian (someone from Liverpool)
Scouse is the very distinctive English accent spoken by Scousers
Scouse is also an adjective describing something relating to a Scouser
And Scouse is also the Liverpool name for Lancashire hot-pot - which could be
beef or mutton based.

[lace-chat] Scousers

2013-10-28 Thread Malvary Cole
I think I’ve seen this before, but it is still amusing
A smile for today. (for our foreign readers: a Scouse is a
Liverpudlian.someone from Liverpool)

Lipstick in School

According to a news report, a certain private school in Liverpool was recently
faced with a unique problem.
A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it
on in the toilets.

That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their
lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints. Every night the
caretaker would remove them and the next day the girls would put them back.

Finally the Headmistress decided that something had to be done. She called
all the girls to the toilets with the caretaker.

She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the
caretaker who had to clean the mirrors every night (you can just imagine the
yawns from the little Scouse Princesses).

To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the
caretaker to show the girls how much effort was required.

He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the
mirror with it.

Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.

There are teachersand then there are educators.

I to do not know if I can make to CA. next year but I hoping to make to15. But
I do like the idea of just meeting in an area for a get together. Does it have
to be at lunch. Why not a cocktail hour in the evening.

2 miles from my hotel.  Their price was under $10 and i got a senior
discount
for both my children too.  their offering was extremely varied and
you could
get a steak or sea food cooked to your specifications as well as
the usual
offerings of salads, deserts and such.  they did not push you to
leave so we
were able to visit and just kept going back for more offerings
for 2 hours.
don't know if there is one available but highly recommend it.
