In July/August it was pinks but in the winter it's narcissus.

Just a thought on this - with Mother in Law being asthmatic (not so bad
now as when she was younger), I have to be careful about the flowers
sent. I know from personal experience that narcissi and daffodils will
give me a very bad headache (Mothers' Day at church used to be a
nightmare, with proudly presented posies from two daughters!) - hence
the only daffs allowed in the house now are lace ones. Hyacinths have
the same effect (absolute horror when I accompanied my eldest daughter
to the doctors on Wednesday, and there was a bowl of those on the
reception desk!).

Do think about whether the recipient can live with the type of flowers
you send!

I haven't used 'Bunches' but a few months ago whilst on holiday on the
Isles of Scilly I sent birthday bouquets to two different people from
Scent from the Islands at Churchtown Farm, St Martins.

I believe both were pleased with the flowers, and the journey from
Scilly to Devon would be quite a lot shorter than Scilly to Kent which
I sent. In July/August it was pinks but in the winter it's narcissus.

They have a nice, fancy website, but this does not mean anything, does
it?!

I have not heard of Bunches but have used
http://www.sovereignflyingflorist.com/ in Guernsey for many years to send
flowers to my relatives in Britain. I have always had good reports back from
the recipients. Although one time my MIL sent the card enclosed with the
flowers back to them to complain. She said they were not usually what she
received. I usually sent her freesias but for some reason I sent her
carnations or a mixed bunch that year. She received another bunch of flowers
with an apology!! Another year she had the Post office in Manchester doing a
search for them but I had forgotten the date for Mothers day in England and had
not ordered any. My last order sent earlier this year to my Aunt for her 80th
birthday received a complaint that she had to use too many vases for them!

Good luck with your flower purchase.

[lace-chat] Buying flowers

When someone who lived in Australia wanted to send me flowers, they sent
orchids from a supplier who could post internationally from Darwin.
Absolutely wonderful, and they seemed to last forever. Each stem had a glass
vial of water sealed around it, and they only took a couple of days to get
from Darwin to Dorset.

I've since bought a potted orchid here, and that's been flowering for four
months so far and new buds are still forming.
