[lace-chat] Oya Lace

It could still have been crocheted lace rather than Oya needle lace. Lace is
defined as "fabric with holes" or "spaces enclosed by fibres/threads". So
lace can be made with bobbins, needle (e.g. needle lace, broderie anglais),
crochet hook, knitting needles, tambour hook, etc. We tend to think of lace
only being made with bobbins or a needle, but that isn't the case.

Shirley I just googled "Oya" and got
www.delikiz.com/needle_lace_(oya).htm which takes you to a site of
Turkish lace.

I'm sending this to lace, because that's where it belongs.

If you search in the archives <http://www.mail-archive.com/lace@arachne.com>,
you will come up with many past discussions of oya.

[lace-chat] Oya & piecework magazine & active brain

2006-01-27 Thread auntsis
Good morning all,
Yesterday, before I went to belly dance class (just started 3 weeks ago to
loose weight since I hate exercise) I went by Barnes & Noble and picked up the
Piecework, along with Threads and Vogue patterns. What a wonderful article - I
almost thought I was back in Izmir in the souk. I am going to order that back
issue and I have gone to, but not yet printed, the link. Also in my very old.
70's, Readers Digest Guide to Needlework I found a bit under needle lace.

I think being a member of this group helps keep the brain active, especially
since I decided to get out of lurker mode. I always have either morning coffee
or afternoon tea with you ladies and look forward to our visit.

Now to address my other question - anyone know of a teacher of Reticella lace?

Have a great day my friends.
