Thanks Helen for your directions. Liz also sent instructions, a bit more
detailed, and between you I should be able to get thru this challenge. I
couldn't figure out the Practical Skills instructions, no matter which way I
turned the book. Just for your information it was the Spring 96 Australian
Lace issue.

[lace-chat] RE: tally flowers (was The Car)

2004-06-08 Thread Helen Bell
Lyn,

Depending on how the centre of the flower is pricked, either do a
whole or half stitch, bringing in the pairs (a la beds lace) and leaving
them out to make the tallies the other side. I don't have my copy of
that issue at my finger tips, and not sure which of the 4 issues it is
in, but those are the 2 more common ways.

Or you can do 16 pair crossing (should be something like it in Cook's
Practical Skills book). Or a 4 pair crossing using the pairs from each
tally as a thread (it might look thick and clumsy this way).

If you email me privately with the issue the pattern is from, I can find
mine (I know where it is in my sewing room - it's just downstairs), I
can help you some more.

Cheers,
Helen, Aussie living in sultry Denver.
