[lace-chat] Re: [lace] Raffle

2015-01-30 Thread Jeriames
A lovely offer from Sue.

This is an image taken from Royal Doulton's 1987 figurine HN 3098, named
Dorothy - if anyone wants to look her up. The figurine is dressed in a
simple 1600's Pilgrim style dress of light gray/blue, with large white
'falling-style' collar. She is making lace on a violet roller pillow held in
her
lap. There is a black cat diverting her attention. There are people who
collect lacemaker figurines.

You can also search Royal Doulton Cross Stitch of Dorothy to see the
charted photo. It would be lovely to own, and not too time-consuming to make.

Wishing you all luck.

Just been having a bit of a sort out and found a pattern for a cross

hanging in my workroom, if you want to see a photo of the chart I have down
loaded it to our photo stream. So anyone who wants to join in the raffle just
send me your details and I will get DH to draw it on 7th Feb to give the
ones who only have the digest a chance to participate.

I second all that. Mine has just arrived, and indeed is a collection of
lovely Idrija patterns. I have already worked some Idrija lace and enjoyed
it so am thrilled to have more patterns, especially 2 wonderful cockerel
designs. What fun!

Thank you so much for doing this

My 'pattern' arrived today. Many, many thanks, Dora. I was stunned to
see
more than one pattern - which is what I though the prize was. There are,
in
fact, many designs included and an account of Dora's trek to find Idrija
lace

and patterns. I think you are very brave, Dora, as your travels sounded
quite hazardous to me :-)

Of the patterns I particularly like the large bluebird and, as I have the
book explaining techniques, I should be able to work out how to do it.
Don't

hold your breath, though, while you are waiting to be told it has been
completed .

Again, thank you very much - I'm thrilled by them.

Thanks Jeri for the information about "Dorothy" I knew it was Royal Doulton but
have never investigated it's origins.
You are right to think it is quite easy and I made mine in about 2 months
although I was making other things at the same time.

My pattern packet arrived today also (9-19-08). What a wonderful treat. I
can hardly wait until next week to see if our Guild Library has the Idrija
instruction book.
Looking at the pictured laces, it looks very much like Schneeberger. Is this
valid or what are the differences?

Thank you, Dora, for making these available to us. Now I had better start
looking through my lace room for a 'prize' to share.

My first afternoon message has been returned with 'permanent fatal error'
as the reason. As I am simply hitting reply it is not an error of copying
on my part. Another member has offered to send it to you. If that doesn't
arrive can you send me your address direct and I shall post snailmail my
address to you.

I'm glad this didn't happen with my raffle entry email :-)
