I was taught about that kind of stamina at one of the preschools I attended for a brief time (less than a week. None of the 5 within my district could -- or was willing to -- keep me longer than 3 weeks). Only it was the breakfast oatmeal, not spinach. When my mother came to pick me up at 4:30PM, there I was, the bowl of congealed oatmeal in front of me and my 4yr-old self sitting in my own feces and urine at the table (which had been moved to a corner, so that other kids could have their lunch and tea in a more salubrious environment), mortified at back-sliding in my personal hygene but as defiant as ever about what I would/would not eat.

The "teacher" -- reputedly, I don't remember it myself -- said I must have been the spawn of a donkey and a mule, since she'd never seen anyone that stubborn before. Of course now, as an adult, I wonder about that "teacher" and *her* antecedents :)
