Fine for the back-catcher (whatever that is) and the bird-watcher, but kids
walking down the street aren't doing either of those. The peek's intended to
protect the eyes from the sun, and only teachers and parents have eyes in
the backs of their heads.

[lace-chat] hats on backwards

2003-09-07 Thread Dearl Kniskern
dear listers
this an excerpt from jeans message
Fine for the back-catcher (whatever that is) and the bird-watcher,

a back catcher refers to the game of baseball and the catcher who stands
behind the batter to catch the ball that the pitcher throws wears his hat
backwards and then puts on his face mask so he doesn't get hit with the ball
if this doesn't answer the question please ask again

[lace-chat] hats on backwards

2003-09-06 Thread Bev Walker
Hi everyone

I don't know what is wrong with wearing the baseball cap 'backwards' -
the back-catcher is baseball has to, or s/he won't see to catch the ball
(for instance) - when we use field scopes for bird-watching, if we have a
ball cap on, it is immediately switched 'backwards' so we can see through
the scope, and it might stay that way for the rest of the wearing, unless
we want the visor to give our eyes shade.

It is easier to see the wearer's face if the visor is at the back - but
why bother in the first place one might ask...it's like wearing a
long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up but *not* wanting to wear a
short-sleeved shirt. Personally, I prefer the former, more comfortable I
guess. And the hat - it's what inside the head, not on it that's important
;)

bye for now
