I have bonded two interfaces in mode 0 for load balancing and link sharing. My understanding is that "traffic control" happens, below bonding and hence this should be possible. I am currently short of lab equipments and am planning to try this some time this week end...I am curious about similar implemantations and/or thoughts,,ðÏËÏÔÉÌÅÎËÏ ëÏÓÔÉË [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I tryed to do some iptables rules on bonded interfaces and that didn'tworked. [LARTC] Wanted Good Documentation on HFSC

2005-05-27 Thread KartheeK
Hello All,
I am trying to prioratize VOIP traffic from data.
The follwing link says that HFSC is better than HTB for shaping VOIP traffic.
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-QoS+Linux+with+HFSC
I am in search of good documentation to start with HFSC,
I am unable to understand the parameters used.
I "googled" a lot to find on how to use HFSC, but no luck.
Can anyone of you get me a link To good HFSC stuff....
Regards

[LARTC] Re: Equal bandwidth for any client

2005-05-13 Thread KartheeK

Hi,
If you are running brctl tool on the linux box then there is a command that will automatically determine the number ofMAC addressesin the network

#brctl showmacs bridge nameport number of ur lan interfce grep -v -w port | wc -l
Ex:
#brctl showmacsabcd 1 grep -v -w port| wc -l

Note that, for this to work your box should be confogurred as a bridge in promiscuous mode
I use this method to automatically determine the number of MAC addresses in my LAN..
Use this in combination with crontab to do the job..
Hope, this helps.

[LARTC] wanted A tool to measure bandwidth....

2005-05-11 Thread KartheeK
Hello Everybody,
I have configured a Linux box that does traffic shaping. Its working wonderfully fine, just as expected...Now i want to measure the bandwidth consumed by each of my hostsBut I dont want SNMP to run on all the hosts[as required by MRTG]
I used iptraf on my linux box, but it only measures the bandwidth on interface basis only
I tried installing traffic-vis, its not working properly and there is know documentation of how to get it running.
I also tried ntop, it installs, but dosent work.
I have been scratching my head for the past one week

So my problem: I am in search of a tool that measures bandwidth consumed by each host on my LAN without requiring SNMP to run on the hosts...

Now, is there any tool
Any input regarding the matter is a welcome.
Infinite Thanx in Advance.

KartheeK

[LARTC] how to bring down htb rate to 3kbit?

2005-03-15 Thread kartheek

Hello Everybody,
I am successful in throttling down the Bandwidth to 8kbit using HTB. Below that I get report to change r2q. I want to bring down the Leaf class Bandwidth to 3kbit.
My script is as below:

Tc Script to throttle down the Bandwidth to 8kbit based on MAC address and IP address
tc qdisc del dev eth0 root
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1:0 htb default 30 r2q 1

tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:0 classid 1:1 htb rate 24kbit ceil 24kbit quantum 1514

tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 8kbit ceil 8kbit
tc qdisc add dev eth0 parent 1:10 handle 10:0 sfq

tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:20 htb rate 8kbit ceil 8kbit
tc qdisc add dev eth0 parent 1:20 handle 20:0 sfq

tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:30 htb rate 8kbit ceil 8kbit
tc qdisc add dev eth0 parent 1:30 handle 30:0 sfq

tc filter add dev eth0 parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 1 u32 match ip dst 192.168.10.163 flowid 1:10

tc filter add dev eth0 parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 1 u32
match u32 0x11e6bd53 0x at -12
match u16 0x0011 0x at -14 flowid 1:20

If I am to Throttle down the Leaf class Bandwidth to 3kbit what should be the value of root qdisc r2q?? and what should be the value of root class quantum??
