[Lazarus] Lazarus and ZeosDBO

2021-10-18 Thread Terry A. Haimann via lazarus
I would like to have explicit instructions on installing Lazarus
including the ZeosDBO components for not only a Linux setup, but also
Windows setup.

I first installed Ubuntu Linux and then installed the Debian files for
Lazarus.

-rw-rw-r--   1 terry terry   38999400 Sep 20 13:35 fpc-laz_3.2.0-
1_amd64.deb
-rw-rw-r--   1 terry terry   30468282 Sep 20 13:35 fpc-src_3.2.0-
1_amd64.deb
-rw-rw-r--   1 terry terry  115581820 Sep 20 13:36 lazarus-
project_2.0.12-0_amd64.deb

First I installed the fpc source, followed by the compiler and then
Lazarus itself. Fine, I had a good copy of Lazarus installed. Now I
tried adding ZeosDBO. I tried both of the following additions. They
do not compile as I discussed in a previous email.

-rw-r--r--   1 terry terry1629443 Nov  5  2013  ZEOSDBO-7.0.3-
stable.zip
-rw---   1 terry terry1786857 Feb 13  2014  ZEOSDBO-7.1.3a-
stable.zip

I REALLY want to teach a free class on using Lazarus. But if I cannot
explain to the students how to install the compiler with all of the
tools working, I might as well give up on the idea.

I beleive it rescanned correctly. The popup errors have gone away.
But it will still not compile ZeosDBO, I am satill getting that
original compile errors.

If you need to see the files, let me know where to send them to.

[Lazarus] e: Lazarus - Cant compile ZeosDBO

2021-09-21 Thread Terry A. Haimann via lazarus
I went back and fired up Lazarus as my regular user and I got several
popups complaining about the installation. So this may be the problem
even though I don't see the actual problem. As I said before, this is
an Intel i5 (112th Gen) and the OS is currently Ubuntu 21.02. I
installed this from the current Debian Packages I found on your web
site.

Popup 1:

The current FPC has no config file. It will probably miss some units.
Check your installation of fpc.

terry@quickfox:~$ sudo ls -la /etc/fpc.*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7794 Sep 20 13:37 /etc/fpc.cfg

I have looked over the config file and it looks very similar to the
config file on my old laptop. The compiler points to /usr/bin/fpc
which does exist. Don't know where fpc defines it's source
directories.

terry@quickfox:~$ ls -la /usr/bin/fpc
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 508112 Jul  6  2020 /usr/bin/fpc

Popup 2:

The project uses target OS=linux and CPU=x86_64. The system.ppu for
this target was not found in the FPC binary
directoies. Make sure fpc is installed correctly for this target and
the fpc.cfg contains the right directories.

ls -la /usr/lib/fpc/3.2.0/units/x86_64-linux/rtl/system.ppu
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 882770 Jul  6  2020
/usr/lib/fpc/3.2.0/units/x86_64-linux/rtl/system.ppu

I don't know where the rtl is defined in Lazarus, but the file is
there. Also, I have compiled a few toy pascal programs and they seem
to compile and run fine. Lazarus seems to compile them too after
complaining.

[Lazarus] Lazarus - Cant compile ZeosDBO

2021-09-19 Thread Terry A. Haimann via lazarus
I just bought a new laptop and tring to set up Lazarus. The problem is
installing ZeosDBO into Lazarus.

This is on Linux Mint/Mate 20.2 on an i5-1135G7

Fatal: (1018) Compilation aborted

I am getting two errors when trying to compile and this seems to be the
line it is complaining about:

 TZFirebirdBaseDriver = class (TZAbstractPlainDriver, IZPlainDriver,
IZInterbasePlainDriver)
FIREBIRD_API : TZFIREBIRD_API;

I ran startlazarus as root and then did a

Package->Open Package File(lpk)

I then pointed it to ZeosDBO/packages/lazarus/zcomponent.lpk and
clicked compile button. The file it is failing on is
ZPlainFirebirdDriver.

Thanks for your attention.

[Lazarus] fpccfg is missing in new Lazarus install

2020-05-14 Thread Terry A. Haimann via lazarus
I just did a fresh install of Lazarus and it says the fpc.cfg file
isn't found. These are the files I used to install lazarus with:

fpc-src_2.6.2-0_amd64.deb
fpc_2.6.2-0_amd64.deb
lazarus_1.0.10-0_amd64.

I ran a search for fpc.cfg and ffound these files:

/home/terry/Downloads/fpc.cfg
/etc/fpc.cfg

ls -la /etc/fpc.cfg
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7799 May 14 08:09 /etc/fpc.cfg

Where does the file need to be inorder for Lazarus to find it?

This is a Linux Mint 19.2 desktop using Mate and the processor is a i7-
8700, 16gb of ram.

[Lazarus] Lazarus/Zoom Conflict

2020-05-11 Thread Terry A. Haimann via lazarus
Hello,

I have a number of Lazarus Apps that I use.  They were working fine
before I installed Zoom.  Now all of the database edit fields
when I type in them double entry.  If I type -2.5, I get "--22..55"

I am running Linux Mint Mate 18.3
cpu i7-8700

I have checked on my laptop and the apps behave normally, which I have
not installed Zoom on.

Any suggestions?

I have tried uninstalling Zoom, but the problem still persists.
I really don't want to do a reinstall of the os, and that would have to
wait until midweek.

I had already tried that.  I clicked on edit from the dbnavigator,
uploaded the image and clicked post.  That is when the program would
crash.

I have taken the program a different route, gotten rid of the blob and
replaced it with a varchar.  The varchar now has the filename of the
jpeg.  It's not fast, but it works.

[Lazarus] Loading an image to a mysql blob

2018-10-31 Thread Terry A. Haimann via Lazarus
I tried loading an image into a Medium Blob.  The image uploads and
shows up on my form, but when I click post on my DbNavigator the
program gives me an access violation.

Here is the source code:

procedure TPropertyForm.ImgButClick(Sender: TObject);
Var
  MyImageFile, MyDir:  String;
begin
 MyImageFile := '/';
 if OpenDialog1.Execute then
 begin
  MyImageFile := OpenDialog1.Filename;
 end;
 DbPropImg.Picture.Jpeg.LoadFromFile(MyImageFile);

End;

Am I missing something I have to do?  The blob should be large enough,
they are supposed to be able to hold 16 Meg and the jpegs are running
about 2 - 3 meg.  I am running Mint 18.3, using Mysql 5.7.22 and using
ZeosDBO.

I am getting many duplicate errors like the following:

Note: Duplicate unit "ZDbcLogging" in "zcore 7.1", orphaned ppu
"/home/terry/zeosdbo/ZEOSDBO-7.1.3a-stable/packages/lazarus/lib/x86_64-

So I think I messed up the zeosdbo install.

Also this line isn't compiling, so I think a library might be missing.

[Lazarus] Lazarus and MySQL 5.7

2016-11-18 Thread Terry A. Haimann via Lazarus
What version of Lazarus can connect to MySQL 5.7 using TSqlConnector?
My laptop has 1.6 and does not seem to be able to connect using that
component.

Thx,Terry

I created the form by clicking on NewForm and then I tried to rename it
from the Object Inspector. I am running Lazarus 1.2.4 This app has
probably been used by several versions of Lazarus.

Terry

It renamed it to the new filename:

{ This is an automatically generated lazarus resource file }

LazarusResources.Add('TStRschForm','FORMDATA',[

'TPF0'#11'TStRschForm'#10'StRschForm'#4'Left'#3#235#0#6'Height'#3#240#0#3'Top'

+#3#145#0#5'Width'#3#250#2#7'Caption'#6#10'StRschForm'#12'ClientHeight'#3#240

+#0#11'ClientWidth'#3#250#2#10'LCLVersion'#6#7'1.2.4.0'#0#6'TLabel'#6'Label1'

+#4'Left'#2#24#6'Height'#2#15#3'Top'#2#30#5'Width'#2#23#7'Caption'#6#4'Test'
  +#11'ParentColor'#8#0#0#0
]);

The new form and it's source will not compile unless i comment out the:

{$I unit1.lrs}

I tried renaming unit1 to the new unit name, but it did not like the lrs
file.  It refused to compile.

[Lazarus] Can't add new form to Lazarus App

2016-09-28 Thread Terry A. Haimann via Lazarus

On an old Lazarus app (Linux) today I tried to add a form and got the
following:

http://www.haimann.us/Images/Test.png

After selecting this option, the new form appears messed up. At the
botton of the unit.pas file the following is displayed:

initialization
  {$I unit1.lrs}

Even after I save the unit under another name. After compilation when
the form is displayed via a show.modal, the form is blank.
Is there someway to repair this app
