[lazarus] MAIN FORM CORRUPTED.

2006-06-27 Thread Henrique de Paula Faria

I have a problem with lazarus 0.9.16beta IDE. After i
update from 0.9.15 to 16, the project iam working on had the main form
corrupted. The form file (.lfm) seems to have the six first lines removed:

ORIGINAL:

object frmPrincipal: TfrmPrincipal

  Left = 303

  Height = 415

  Top = 158

  Width = 630

  HorzScrollBar.Page = 632

  VertScrollBar.Page = 385

  ActiveControl = BitBtnViga

  BorderIcons = [biSystemMenu, biMinimize]

  BorderStyle = bsSingle

  Caption = 'PTE 0.01'

  ClientHeight = 386

  ClientWidth = 633

MODIFIED:

object frmPrincipal: TfrmPrincipal

  ActiveControl = BitBtnViga

  BorderIcons = [biSystemMenu, biMinimize]

  BorderStyle = bsSingle

  Caption = 'PTE 0.01'

  ClientHeight = 395

  ClientWidth = 630

Then it looses the reference and its size turns to the
default form at the top left of IDE. My main (principal) form has a menu and
six bitbutton.

Is it a bug ?

the way it appears in the desktop?

2. How do I can associate an icon that will be
show in the top left corner of the Form window?
(I'd try to load a picture in the Icomn property
of the Form but nothing happen)

Better then what?

On their website I see they only have it available for windows x86,
linux x86 and Macintosh PowerPC.

Lazarus has a few more: windows 64bits, all BSDs, Windows CE, etc

Do you remember BASIC ? (GWBasic, Quick
Basic), there are a lot of people out there that still works with its open
project like FREEBASIC. FPC and Lazarus are not different. BTW they´re better
because are plataform independent.

Here
on Turkey, Visual Basic and Delphi were both most used languages by relatively
elder organizations. New ones now chooses between Java and .NET (yet Delphi
.NET not even considered, just MS Visual Studio)

On
the other hand in universities pascal considered as old, incapable
and dead language. Academic people mostly agrees that no serious business
can be done in Delphi. It is quiet hard to tell these people what can
Delphi/Pascal can do. Everyone is imagining pascal as it were 20 years ago. %80
of people I know not even heard something called Object Pascal.

The
university I graduated is based on Java. %90 of computer engineering
thesis (if a program is to be written) are made by Java and others Visual
Studio.NET. Using something other then these for thesis are considered
both radical and waste of time.

Why
people are keeping distance to Pascal this much?

I
think that is just because they think it is old and useless. They told this to
others making those also think that way, and so on.

What
a shame :(

RES: [lazarus] XP Manifest

2006-04-12 Thread Henrique de Paula Faria
Correcting what i said before, just verified that
name="CiaoSoftware.Ciao.Shell.Contacts" shows up only when i add the
XPManifest from RXnew. Otherwise exe doesn´t have it.

Weird! The source manifest is in lazarus/ide/lazarus.manifest (and it
doesn't contain this, but has 'name="Lazarus"' instead.

> What is it ? Is it some advertising company to finance Lazarus ?

No, at least I have never heard about "CiaoSoftware".

[lazarus] XP Manifest

2006-04-12 Thread Henrique de Paula Faria

Right now i noticed that Lazarus adds (in Win version) the
windows xp manifest, that´s ok.

But after i checked the .exe file out, with ResHacker.exe i
found this:

xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1"

manifestVersion="1.0">

name="CiaoSoftware.Ciao.Shell.Contacts"

processorArchitecture="x86"

version="5.1.0.0"

type="win32"/>

Windows
Shell

type="win32"

name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls"

version="6.0.0.0"

processorArchitecture="x86"

publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df"

language="*"

    />

If you look at assembly name section there is some kind of
ad from CiaoSoftware.

What is it ? Is it some advertising company to finance
Lazarus ?

Henrique.

The RX-component adapted for Lazarus can be found on
http://alexs75.narod.ru/fpc/rxfpc/
However this site is terrible slow. So I've put the files on my ftp
ftp://willemstein.net/pub/RxFPC.rar
These are the original sources. One of the changes I had to make was
replacing Canvas.BrushCopy with Canvas.CopyRect .

How far is Lazarus to reach the 1.0 ?

Are there many resources to implement and bugs to fix ?

Thanks,

[lazarus] Windows XP Shadow Resource

2006-03-19 Thread Henrique de Paula Faria

Why the Windows XP Shadow Resource doesn´t work on Lazarus?

Ez:

procedure TShadowedHintWindow.CreateParams(var Params:
TCreateParams);

const

  CS_DROPSHADOW = $0002;

begin

  inherited;

  { Enable drop shadow effect on Windows XP and later }

  if (Win32Platform = VER_PLATFORM_WIN32_NT) and

 ((Win32MajorVersion > 5) or

  ((Win32MajorVersion = 5) and (Win32MinorVersion >=
1))) then

    Params.WindowClass.Style := Params.WindowClass.Style or
CS_DROPSHADOW;

end;

initialization

  HintWindowClass := TShadowedHintWindow;

end.

And that is exactly what publish project can do, when you have
configured it correctly.
