[Ldsoss] Mormons on Open Source

2008-03-28 Thread Cathy
I'm assuming you all have seen the CNet article?
http://www.cnet.com/8301-13505_1-9905321-16.html They mention this group.

It's great to see this type of publicity.

I recently saw an article that said that open source developers can
get up to a 40% over non-open source savvy competitors for their
knowledge of open source.

Here is the article (also from CNet)

Interesting article. He offers a quote that open source developers are paid

 the ratio?

I'm curious, because I may be getting ready to hire several sw / hw
developers in the Idaho Falls to Rexburg, ID area. We're building systems
that incorporate mobile devices. If you're in the area (or want to be) and
are in the job market, feel free to send me and e-mail and we can talk
 offline.

 Thanks,

In any case, surely developers who integrate with the open source
community are worth more. Open source means opening your mind to vast
amounts of software, knowledge, ideas, and opportunities, all of which
are constantly expanding and can be carried from one project or job to
the next. No commercial offering compares.

Open source is a tremendous blessing for those who are willing to
understand and accept it.
