Thatproblem is the Dizzying Magical Popup Menu. Let me give an example:I hover over About the Churc! h and i t pops up a menu in a visuallyjarring way. I decide I want to click on "Tabernacle Choir." If I movemy mouse in a natural way, the menu disappears by the time I get there. It may even pop up some other menu along the way!As far as user interfaces go, I think this is very frustrating. If Iclick my mouse, I expect things to happen and so they don't surprise me.However, when I simply move my mouse, I don't expect big things tohappen (like pop up menus). My eyes actually get a little sore whenthis sort of thing happens. So, rather than just complain, I would like to propose a solution. Goto google.com. Right above the search bar, it has Web, Images, Video,... More. Click on "More". Notice that a simple but attractive menupops up right there. It didn't happen automatically, but it happened inresponse to your click (so you can't accidentally set it off by movingyour ! pointer to the bookmarks menu, for example). Even better, the menudoesn't disappear automatically either. It stays up until you eitherclick on the intuitive little X button OR until you click anywhere elseon the page, including the background. This is really intuitive,non-jarring, and simple. If anyone can talk to the people at beta.lds.org, can you PLEASE askthem to incorporate this style of menu on the page. Accessibility isimportant. Also, if you are a web designer anywhere else, please try to avoid thesame UI mistake. I've seen way to many websites out there where Iaccidentally do the wrong thing because a menu magically popped up righton top of something I was about to click on.-- Andrew McNabbhttp://www.mcnabbs.org/andrew/PGP Fingerprint: 8A17 B57C 6879 1863 DE55 8012 AB4D 6098 8826 6868 NOTICE: This email message is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential and privileged information. Carl is right. I can also vouch for his knowledge of the language. As my junior companion he was always being complemented on his mastery of the language and pronunciation. Many people we met assumed that I had been out for a few months and he for almost two years. In fact, he had been out for about 6 months and I had been there for 18. I blame a year in the office for destroying my accent On 8/7/06, Brice Hunt [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Carl Youngblood wrote: By the way, I just checked out the Portuguese version, and you probably ought to know that the image on the main page has a translation error in it. [Ldsoss] Questions about new scriptures.lds.org
Hello, About a month or two ago someone posted that the church was doing some re-working of the lds.org and scriptures.lds.org. I noticed that one item in the new bible dictionary is missing that was there in the old website 'sanballat'. I don't know if this is just a mistake and if it is I don't know who I should notify, maybe just posting to this mailing list is good enough. I am not complaining about this item missing since I have never needed to look it up and still have no interest in learning anything about this word ;-) But I was wondering if there have been other additions or subtractions from either the bible dictionary or guide to the scriptures? Re: [Ldsoss] Questions about new scriptures.lds.org
You can find a beta version of the new lds.org at http:// beta.lds.org/ and a beta version of the new scripture site at http:// scriptures.rosenvall.com/ . You'll notice on the scripture beta site, for instance, that you can change the language in the top-right corner, a feature that's not yet available on scriptures.lds.org. The product manager for LDS.org now has a blog: http:// www.ldswebguy.com/ The announcement for his blog (with his disclaimer) is here: http://blog.moregoodfoundation.org/2006/08/the-manager-of-ldsorg-now- has-a-blog/ You might be able to ask him your question, or use the feedback form on LDS.org.
