Re: [leaf-devel] 'image' for Wrap devices

2006-05-08 Thread Jorn Eriksen
Hey All,

Eric Titl have allready described most in his WRAP document thus the
documentation part is sort of taken care of. That document describe a few
thing that need to changed in several packages. It was those packages I was
thinking about updating with the changes and then put them all together with
all the other packages in a tarball. So not a image as such. The thought
was to make it easier on folks starting with LEAF and WRAP by providing
packages that would make the WRAP work sort of out of the box. Maybe a
better ide would be to make the changed etc.lrp/modules.lrp avalible in the
package repository?

Hello Jorn, Erich,

Would there be an interrest for an file containing all the files needed
to get a WRAP box on the air. I was thinking about creating a tarball
with all the .lrp's contained on the CD including updated modules.lrp,
etc.lrp leaf.cfg syslinux.cfg files. Would there be enought Wrap users
out there for this to make sence at all?

I believe there would be, although I also believe writing up the
necessities for a WRAP and providing a system, which allows to set up a
WRAP board would be even better, because there would be some educational
 effect also.

Agree with that, an other advantage of describing it and providing a
system is that you don't have to maintain a seperate image.

 cheers

 Erich

Eric

You are more than welcome to update any missing items in that
documentation, it is not that recent anyway :-(

Having dedicated .lrp files for a specific platform would make it easy
to deploy, but _it_has_to_be_maintained_by_someone_ which is often the
bigger task than building it in the first place. IMHO if you wanted to
build such a thing you should write a patch against buildtool to be sure
it gets taken care of for the next release :-)

cheers

Tags do not create overhead in subversion, either.

I must have misunderstood you then, probably mistook tagging for branching

Thanks for setting this right
