[leaf-devel] Reduce size in repository for the linux kernel sources

2012-09-13 Thread Yves Blusseau
Hi all,
what do you think about the idea to download only the patch to upgrade
the 3.x base kernel to the latest version (3.x.y).
The patches for the 3.x kernels are not incremental but instead apply
directly to the base 3.x kernel.
So to reduce the size of our git repository we can use the
(linux-3.x.tar.xz (best compression)) file as base kernel and apply only
the patch-3.x.y.xz file to update our sources.

Are you agree with this ?

I speak about the mails send to leaf-commits after committing to git.
web interface, local repository are all fine.

 KP,
Your last commit message looked ok. I'm not sure what cause the issue on
 the other commits.

commit c2873ff39eb86dd8fcf2819179b828ddc9651fe5

update linux kernel to 3.2.29

I think I got it; the ones with missing logs are merges, so one have to
search for the original commit to find the message.

Consider it as solved.

[leaf-devel] Upgrade of buildtool perl modules

2012-09-13 Thread Yves Blusseau
Hi all,

i have upgraded the buildtool perl modules:

* Add a new Tools library that contains functions that can be use by
other modules.
* Add a new function: expand_variables that is use to expand variables
configuration
* Rewrite some functions in pure perl to avoid spawning a process by
calling the perl system function

I have also update the conf/buildtool.conf.sample. So merge your
conf/buildtool.conf file with conf/buildtool.conf.sample to update to
the latest version.

Regards,
Yves

[leaf-devel] LEAF upgrade to SF 2?

2012-09-13 Thread Mike Noyes
Everyone,
What does everyone think about upgrading LEAF to a SF 2 (allura) project?

mhnoyes You indicated LEAF shouldn't have many issues moving to
allura. Git has me concerned. What issues are we likely to see with it
after migration?
ctsai-sf The main thing is that iirc, the migration script does not
yet support migrating multiple git repos it'll only automatically
migrate a repo with the same name as the project, though that's fairly
easy to recover from, you just need to create new git repos within
allura and push to the new locations.
ctsai-sf Similarly, we don't migrate hook scripts yet either. So
you'll need to set those back up again too.
ctsai-sf Other than those items, the main difference is going to be
the code browser. Since it uses the built-in, allura code browser
instead of gitweb.

Many other projects are migrating.
