Leaf:

I have a Bearing 2.1 uClib box w/ Shorewall as the firewall. I have
Active FTP working fine, but would also like to get passive working.
Can this be done? If so how.

Thanks,

[leaf-user] SOCKS5 Help.

2003-09-20 Thread Jason C. Leach
hi,

So I just got the SOCKS5 proxy package installed and working. My MSN
chat client seems to be using it fine, but I can not get sound/audio
working. Any ideas on sorting that out?

I can receive files, something I don't think I could do before.

Thanks,
j.

[leaf-user] Bearing and Lucent cards.

2002-08-20 Thread Jason C. Leach

hi,

A friend and I have setup a Bearing rc2 router w/ 1 100Mbit NIC and
1 BreezeCOM wireless NIC. They system comes up fine,
the BreezeCOM card associates with the AP, but as soon as data
enters the BreezeCOM card it causes a Kernel panic.

We are using Kernel 2.4.18 and I am compiling the BreezeCOM drivers
with PCMCI-CS 3.1.33 (to match Bearing rc2) and Beezecom 1.1 BETA
drivers (from the BreezeCOM site).

Anyone have some tips on how to stop the panic?

Thanks,
j.

What wireless cards does the WRP work with? The ones listed on

If so, what drives go with the Linksys cards?

Thanks,

[Leaf-user] DNS managment w/ Seawall and dnscache.

2002-02-19 Thread Jason C. Leach

hi,

I am having a bit of trouble with DNS cache and seawall.

I have a DNS in the DMZ to deal with several domains we host. If I
put an entry in 'dnsservers' in seawall.conf I can perform DNS query on
this server, but all incoming DNS request are denied at the REMOTE chain.
If I remove the entries, I can not resolve any DNS queries made
to this server.

Perhaps it is because the DMZ can not return a connection to the localnet?

Thanks,
j.

[Leaf-user] Potential virus in IPsec pre 1.5.

2002-02-12 Thread Jason C. Leach

hi,

Here is a note from Sophos about detecting Linux viruses:
So if you have the binary, running it through the Sophos
scanner will give you the correct results.

j.

 start
   Sophos Anti Virus currently detects all known variants
 of the Elf/Obsidian virus family. Infections by this family
 of viruses are very rare and we would not consider this virus
 to be 'in the wild'. ELF/Obsidian-E was first discovered in
 March 2000 and displays the following characteristics: This
 virus walks through the PATH and infects all ELF binary
 executables which the user has enough rights to write to. If
 the superuser (root) starts an infected program, it will
 block both infection and starting of the host program and
 display the message Hell no! Do not run this as root!.

 If you require any further information, please don't hesitate
 to contact me.

2002-02-07 Thread Jason C. Leach

hi,

I have a question on this with a twist.

If I have several nodes connected to a sentral HUB

Right now, the HUB can ping every node, but nodes
can only pin the HUB.

Thanks,

[Leaf-user] What logs mean.

2002-02-05 Thread Jason C. Leach

hi,

If I have an entry:
Packet log: remote DENY eth0 PROTO=6 208.181.x.y:3254 208.181.x.y:80 L=48 S=0x00
I=63245 F=0x4000 T=121 SYN (#15)

What does the
PROTO=6
L=48
S=0x00
I=63245
F=0x4000
T=121
SYN
#15

Mean. PROTO seems like a protocol enum, and I seems like it's counting packets. But
other than that, I am just not sure.

Thanks,
j.

[Leaf-user] Re: Floppy drive space.

2001-11-26 Thread Jason C. Leach

hi,

You can move packages from one floppy to the other, like
dhclient, dhcpd, dnscache to name a few. I left the core
packages MODULES, LOCAL, ETC, ROOT on the primary floppy.
It looks like you have the PKGPATH set fine for this.
