David, I made a stock Bering image for you including ide support, I had to remove the ppp.lrp package to get enough room. You can download it at http://www.netvantix.com/leaf/images/bering_1_0_stable_ide.imz
Since you primarily use windoze I created the image with WinImage for your convenience. I did not modify the syslinux.cfg to boot from /dev/hda1 just in case you want to boot from the Bering disk the first time.
