[leaf-user] Future development
Hi, I'm new to the list, and I have not even tried to install LEAF yet. I have read the subjects of the FAQ. Since it's getting too hard to maintain my RH installation on my 486 router/firewall, I'm looking for any of these 'specialized distributions'. I've been searching the 'Net to try to find the 'best' distro for my needs and whishes. I've come to the conclusion that LEAF will most likely come very close. Still: - Are there any plans on porting LEAF to the 2.4 series of kernels and most importantly, are there any plans on replacing ipchains with iptables? - If yes, then are there any rough estimates on when such an effort might potentially be undertaken? I couldn't find any pointers to this subject in the FAQ. (Did I miss something? Pointers to TFM appreciated.) N.B. This is *not* a *request*. I highly appreciate all of those taking their private time to develop this distribution. I participate in other efforts so I understand how difficult it can be. My intention is just to understand what is the projected future for LEAF, as part of my decision process. - Are there any plans on porting LEAF to the 2.4 series of kernels and most importantly, are there any plans on replacing ipchains with iptables? Check out the Bering distribution (linked from the main LEAF page) - If yes, then are there any rough estimates on when such an effort might potentially be undertaken? The effort mainly includes downloading the Bering image and necessary packages and modules Regards Alex --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Scholarships for Techies! Can't afford IT training?
