Try using "hdparm" (http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man8/hdparm.8.html)
during bootup.
On my case, I do an `hdparm -m1 /dev/name` on my CF during bootup to fix
those "NO DRQ..." messages.
Busybox has an hdparm applet.
