[leaf-user] Re: [leaf-devel] ANN: Bering-uClibc 2.2 beta2

2004-05-11 Thread K.-P. Kirchdörfer
The Bering-uClibc team releases Bering-uClibc 2.2 beta2

This release moves to new linuxrc and leaf.cfg written by Charles
Steinkuehler.
Please note we currently use the Bering way of module loading and will look at
alternatives (like Charles Steinkuehlers last modifications) during beta
cycle.

Other changes are modularized ip_conntrack, replaced arp with busybox arp
applet.

Due to new linuxrc "backupdisk" is broken and has been removed.
With scp and dd support it shouldn't be a problem though - will anyone miss
this feature?

For a complete changelog please read:
http://leaf.sourceforge.net/mod.php?mod=userpage&menu=91003&page_id=39

You'll find the image plus ipv6 drop-in replacement in FRS:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=13751&package_id=67534&release_id=237410

Suggestions, reports and fixes are welcome.
kp

What backup? ;-)

Never worked that well anyway IMHO.

I'm ashamed to admit that I always used WinImage to backup the floppy.
But then again,
I always had quick and easy physical access to my routers...

Just my .02

I also use Winimage to backup my LEAF. Lets me have an executable on my Windows
box(es) that I just double click to create a new LEAF!! A backup on a floppy sounds
like a contradiction to me!

2004-05-11 Thread M Lu
Hi kp,

The new leaf.cfg is cool.

Could you explain a little bit about how modules are loaded in Bering when I
use CD? What I do is that I do not have any *.o in my modules.lrp on the
floppy, only the etc/modules which lists the modules I need. Those are then
loaded from /cdmnt... However for some modules with same name (e.g. 3c59x.o)
I cannot specify the one I like, I have to use what is loaded first. Maybe
there is a way but I do not know.

I really like the way modules are loaded in Charles' Daschtein CD.

M Lu.

Because not everyone uses Linux on anything but their LEAF box. Heck, I
DO use Linux, and when I do an upgrade it's usually with WinImage.

I have no idea about Windows, sorry - just thought if it's possible to do a
disk dump equivalent from an exe to floppy, it might be possible the other
way round.
I'm just asking.
