Re: [LU] team today

2016-02-07 Thread Nick Allen
The irony being that the team had a much better balance today, passed the ball
around and looked like the team more likely...but then Forest had one come back
off the bar and of course scored after we stopped playing waiting for a whistle
that never came. The talk at half time was a decent game being played at a good
tempo, with the ball being kept on the ground and into feet...just a shame
about the points!

Like the three of Dave, Bridcott and Cook in the middle, with Dallas chucking
some good crosses in. And for about 30 minutes it looked Doukara and Antenucci
would come up with the goods.

Only 12 goals at home all season, speaks volumes. With that track record you
leave your defence no room for cock-ups...it's a tough line to hold.

We know why Wootton has space going forward and today Taylor had loads, except
no one passed it to him.

Most annoying.

Funny, I sent this just after getting home at 6pm last night...looks like it
got lost in the ether...anyway, I obviously watched a different game from
everyone else, judging by the other reports/comments.

2016-02-07 Thread Rob Heath
This 12 goals at home all season stat is actually worse than
that...don't forget that two of 'em were ogs!

(And neither of them were the kind of og that a good attacking team
occasionally gets when a defender is left with little option but to put it
in his own net to prevent an attacker scoring..no, both of them
were headed home under the most minimal of pressure.)

Re: [LU] team today

2016-02-07 Thread Ted
I think I agree with most of your report Nick. First half we played pretty
decently.
2nd half tho was a different matter - plenty of possession but with no
final ball or bite.
You can see that most player's first thought when they receive the ball is
to stop and turn round rather than moving, or passing forward.
Time and time again we got the ball going forward and the player stopped,
allowing Forest to get 10 men behind the ball. Frustrating to say the least.
Have they been told not to cross the ball as well?!!

I was going to go to Watford but after that performance I'm saving my
money. Cue a 4-0 win.

Re: [LU] team today

2016-02-07 Thread nat...@sky.com
When we heard the team we did all agree that this was our best line-up in many
ways. It had served us well at Bolton and both gives Cook the licence to get
forward and cause problems and protects the back four (which we know is prone
to slip ups to say the least)Put a fit Wood in there in place of Doukara or
Antenucci and buy Cook some shooting boots and we could have a reasonable team
especially when Berardi is back or Coyle makes the break through.
I do feel a bit sorry for Wootton - he does a decent job defensively for the
most part but is such a scapegoat with the fans that this is never appreciated,
and he is so poor going forward that the other teams often leave him with room
so the pass to him is the best option but will come to nothing. I hate seeing
any player booed off by his own 'fans' and I think in some ways Wootton is the
poster boy for all our ills, ills for which he is NOT the main cause by any
stretch of the imagination
Having read your report I agree - we were watching different games ! Only
joking, sort of. We were the better team for the most part but some of that was
down to the way Forest play: conceding possession and funneling all eleven back
behind the ball which meant we had to find a spark of brilliance to get round
or through them and we failed to do this. My thoughts over the game are indeed
coloured by the fact that this is yet another poor home game where we failed to
score and failed to create real clear cut chances. The highlights (all
30seconds of them) on Ch 5 showed them hitting the bar and scoring (offside?)
as you referred to but also showed them messing up a real chance albeit caused
by a deflection, whereas all they thought worthy of showing by us was a decent
cross by Dallas that Doukara failed to get a good header on.

I can appreciate the finer points of the game, the possession and slick passing
etc but, like most fans, I want to see us creating chances and scoring goals
and we are clearly failing to do either at home this season (away we look a
different team from the bits I have seen / been to)
The song "we're shit and we've all had enough" would be an appropriate anthem
for us at the moment, as evidenced by the non attendance of listers  Rich and
Betty  for a game that they could have gone to, on a Saturday afternoon against
decent opponents , but chose not to and even worse, are happy with that choice.
You can argue whether 24 thousand is a good crowd or not for LUFC but the way
things are going and the way fans are feeling this will be viewed as an
exceptional turnout for any game next season !
Sorry this post is a bit all over the place and a bit disgruntled but it is
hard to know what to say or think at the moment -

Dave

It's certainly difficult being a Leeds fan these days.
12 years a so of mostly sh1t football along with useless owners tests
anyone's resolve.
Another nail in the coffin for me was the announcement last week that Leeds
City Council are, from next season, making all on-street parking within 1.5
to 2 miles of the ground residential permit holders only.
For midweek games when public transport is not possible it's another blow
for me. I've parked around Cemetery Rd for the best part of 35 years - not
anymore.

If my friends or son decided to pack it in - I'm sure I wouldn't go
anymore. Sad really.

Re: [LU] team today

2016-02-07 Thread Simon McNally
I thought we were ok first 10 mins but rest was awful. Too many sideways and
backwards passes, tempo too slow.
Our formation / tactics are fundamentally flawed , especially against a team
like forest. All the space is out wide but mainly for wooton. Best / only
chance of the game came from one of the few times Dallas got the ball out wide
but doukara 's header was poor.
The main problem though is that when the ball is out wide, there's no target in
the middle. Also , there is very little movement in the box - doukara in
particular is static.
I think we could play forest all week and not score.
Trouble is , other teams do their homework and know that this is the best way
to stop us - flood the middle and force the play outside. We barely have a plan
A , never mind a plan B.
