[LU] Any Francophiles on the list who could give me a little advice please?

2016-06-13 Thread Errand Fivefold
Staying in Lyon on Weds/Thurs 15/16th of June for the Footy. Have hired a car
to travel to Paris arriving on Sunday the 19th.We are looking to stop over at a
couple of places on the journey to Paris, well away from any football venues on
the Friday/Saturday night. Can anyone recommend any nice towns/village which
might be worth stopping over at?Looking for decent food, a few decent bars etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in hoopeful anticipation,
Best wishes,

2016-06-13 Thread Damian Walsh
I've replied to the list because everybody should be interested in this :)

Clermont Ferrand should be your destination of choice - lots of decent bars
& restaurants (that are nearly all relatively cheap for France) and there
is veterans football in Olby on the Friday night and various concerts and
village balls on the Satdi.

Clermont is less than 2 hours from Lyon (new motorway) and 4 hours from
Paris.

If you're interested I'll sort out the "what's on" for the weekend

Cheers, Damian

Yes - Clermont Ferrand, and then you can go up one of the nearby volcanoes
during the day (e.g. Puy de Dôme).

[LU] Fwd: Agenda des Combrailles - Juin

2016-06-13 Thread Damian Walsh
Things to do around Clermont this weekend.

Note that there are the Fetes Patronales (the village galas) at St Gervais
d'Auvergne and Puy St Galmier so there's a choice of dances and concerts on
both Friday & Saturday night.

Cheers Damian

[LU] treehuggers rejoice!

2016-06-13 Thread Richard Naef
The club have signed an agreement with those soppy wishywashy treehuggers at
Greenpeace for their Logo to appear on the front of all Junior Replica
shirts. Seemingly in this PC besotted world it's illegal to have Gambling
Logos on Children's shirts! Ridiculous, what harm has gambling ever done?

Those guys and gals are just super human, 10 mins after their race Jonny
and Alistair were being interviewed and were asked if they would be off out
on the town that evening, answer "not sure, think we'll need a couple of
hours rest after that race..."
