And I still look back fondly at Damian's booze and charcuterie table that
seemed to appear pitchside before every Lards game at WorldNet! Does
WorldNet still exist? The two that I attended still loom large in my memory
as weekends of great fun with a bunch of people I had only just met but felt
like I had known for years! Both events were probably the one and only time
I met a lot of listers, Betty, Damian, Maggie Barber, Voicey, Adie Turford,
the tall skinny Asian kid who was a decent striker, King of Tonga, Prince of
Tonga, some Scandi bloke who came back to London with a few of us and ended
up staying at my house because he didn't have anywhere to stay before his
flight home the next day. I might even have met Thirkers at one of them as
well.

What a thread to welcome us out of hibernation along with the green shoots
of the Bielsa revival :)..

1996 - had 2, now 5. They are all Leeds supporters though some a bit more
vaguely than others.

The eldest 2 have been to Elland Road but it was a traumatic match - the 1
- 0 defeat to Fulham under O' Dreary which (for me anyway) marked a
tangible starting point to our subsequent decline - so none of us have been
back since. In any case, the five year old just wanted to fight the Fulham
fans after they scored and as she's in her twenties now she'd get arrested.
She does live in Leeds though at the moment, being a post-grad student at
whatever they call Leeds Met nowadays.

Congratulations to the new father BTW!

How old are we all ? :)

I think I joined sometime early 90s, I got my first PC in 1992, so probably
around that time. I used to live in Manchester and had a big radio aerial
pointing to yorkshire so I could pick up live commentary and then used to
rely this info back over irc to a #leeds group, and once a week, one lucky
lister could listen in live via netmeeting :)

My kids are grown up too now, lad is 23, daughter turning 21 in a few weeks
time. Neither are into football, so closets they have been to Elland Road
is the M62. Actually, same goes for me given my 80s football ground
experiences, never been to a match since.

Thing I remember most about when they were young, esp my lad was that I
would always be ready to look after him at night, meant I could take him
downstairs, pop him in the pram and play Championship Manager without the
misses moaning "You are on the bloody PC all the time"

Re: [LU] Swansea from the armchair

2018-08-23 Thread Joe Skinner
You'd think that with Saiz presumably being man marked every game from here on
in, a few things need to happen.

1. Someone (Alioski for example) needs to take some responsibility and step
up.

2. Both of them need to cut out the crap, the diving, whinging, petulance, easy
bookings, niggly stuff, constantly moaning - for one thing it shows even your
basic footballer that he's lost it already and is off his game.

3. The rest of the 9 not being marked should be finding their own space and
take more responsibility. Roofe for one has been doing this (from what little
I've seen)

Even if it all goes tits up, even these 4-5 games have been better than
virtually all of last season. So it's not just the players or manager, it's the
whole thing. Even looking like you’re trying goes a long way.

. More problematic is the Saiz been man-marked and getting wound up scenario -
we need more another creative option imho, especially as he’ll inevitably be
banned at times.

Re: [LU] Kids

2018-08-23 Thread Vijay Bhakta

Re: [LU] Kids

2018-08-23 Thread Ian Murray
Ok so to continue with this thread, I joined the list as a 20 year old student
in 2001.

It's amazing to consider that it's getting towards 20 years (with some breaks)
that I've been on here.

I've only ever met a couple of listers IRL but have had tickets and stuff from
a few of you and feel like I know some of you, which makes reading about your
families and stuff all the more interesting.

MOT to Norwich and their pink dressing room.

I have on the list in it's various guises since the beginning, i think, in
'93 or so. Still have the original list shirt and it still fits.

Have 2 kids, one is 20, the other 15, neither have any interest in football
other than annoying me when Leeds loose.
