[LU] Ticket for Forest

2019-08-08 Thread kevin leizer

Is anyone interested in a spare ticket for Saturday's match? NW corner F23

I can't get there so my son has my ticket and can meet you before KO.

DM me if interested.

Re: [LU] Graham smyth

2019-08-08 Thread Richard Naef
OK, FWIW here's my take. Our wage bill has skyrocketed, we invested
significantly in the coaching staff, in financial terms the club like almost
all others has running costs that vastly outweigh income and AR is unwilling to
put any more of his money into the club or sell to 3rd parties.

The expert interviewed thought AR was acting on a sensible. I know listening
to experts is unpopular nowadays, but unless you can come up with a flaw on his
arguement, just being a contrarian is wearing a bit thin.

With the owners, staff and manager we've just had the best season for nearly 2
decades. Always talking a negative view, will statistically show you to be
right more often that not due to the inherent restricted nature of success in
football, but its it a tad dull and wearing?

I read the article and got no answers only that they'd refused another £35
million of offers.

Yes we don't want another Ridsdale situation but 27 million out and not a penny
spent in can be considered sensible or just lacking in ambition.

As I say, promotion on the cheap hopefully.

- 2 millionEkuban - 1 millionIdeuchi - 1 million Pearce - 300k
and Wilks and Odour to Barnsley and Denton to Stevenage (unknown)
In terms of transfers in we haven't spent a penny on transfer fees, not a
fucking penny. We've signed some loanees:
White Costa (yes there's an option to buy for 15 million but we won't unless he
scores 20 goals and we go up. He can't even get in the team yet) Arsenal kid
KeeperContinuation of Harrison for another year  Clarke

So first thing to say is that Radrizani hasn't a pot to piss on OR he is not
prepared to invest any more of his money. That's clear.
In terms of the actual transfers I think some of the business is good. Roofe
for 6 million is a steal, he really wasn't good enough to lead the line on his
own and take us up. Clarke and Pontus are more disappointing for me however
we've got Clarke back and he can do us a favour if he can get in the team.
Losing Pontus, our best defender for the last couple of years is a worry. Yes
White looked good on Sunday but he had little defending to do and stroking the
ball nicely out of defence doens't do it for me. We need to see him really
tested. Can he defend like Pontus. Listening to Bielsa talking it sounds like
he could be but not yet. FFS though, what happens when Cooper gets his injury
(he will) that's White and Beradi at centre back. It's way too risky for a team
looking to be promoted.
The Arsenal kid looks promising but he's scored his goals for the U-23s and is
unproven at even championship level. We've had Arsenal loanees before (remember
Jermaine Pennant ?) who was a good player but made little impact.
Costa is a player and surely will have an impact but Wolves were quick to let
him go. He's scored 7 goals in the last 69 appearances over the last 2 seasons
for Wolves.
Radz is hoping that his main financial outlay Bielsa can work the miracles
again and hopefully whip the loanees of which we could have 6 in the team. Are
you going to get promotion with a team full of loanees.
Kiko WhiteCostaClarke Arsenal Kid Harrison
That's the facts but I'm a Leeds fan and I am at this stage of the season an
optimist. I thought we were brilliant at Bristol against poor opposition and I
am really looking forward to Saturday. Here's to promotion on the cheap !

2019-08-08 Thread nat...@sky.com
We have had to sell to buy this summer
Villa on the other hand in prem have sold no-one and paid £135m in transfer
fees, Sheffield United have spent over £49m and brought in nil in sales
Meanwhile at the other end of the pyramid Bury need £1m to stay in existence
and are struggling to find it (league cup game also suspended af present)

2019-08-08 Thread Damian Walsh
I always remember from my Shoot Leeds United wallchart of 1975 (or maybe it
was the Daily Mirror) that one of the factors of the 73/74 title was the
fact that Leeds used many less players over the year than anyone else (14
sticks in the memory but I've not checked).

.. Of course it helps that the 14 were all better players than anyone
else at the time :)

2019-08-08 Thread Nicholas Armit via Leedslist
Phillips has two years left on his contract I believe.
BPF - didn't rate himJansson - Good on his day but Brentford away last year
clearly showed his weaknesses. Very early but White was class on Sunday.Clark -
well he is back isn't he.Roofe - 30 odd goals in 120 odd games? Not exactly
earth shattering and often injured.
Why does everyone forget we have to pay 15 million for Costa? We have been
nowhere near spending that kind of money since Risdale.

the end of last season. Believing his own hype and not doing what the Manager

Top goal scorer [Roofe] - Agree this is a weak area. Piss weak in fact. If
Bamford is properly fit...? We've got back for Roofe what we paid for Bamford.
He had a year on his Contract and wanted what Bamford was on apparently.
Ideally, I'd have sold Bamford and kept Roofe but that assumes he wanted to
stay.

and best youngster sold for millions [Clarke?] - we have him back on loan, so
for this season, that's no real change but we have £10m. Assuming Spuds paid up
front. We also have Costa on loan (with a deal to possibly buy?)

Also sold the 'keeper. Who I didn’t rate. I agree the one we kept is worse. Or
might be a better shot stopper but keeps causing absolute panic when he
constantly comes out. For a premier league team, £3.5m is peanuts and he's
British. He might prove to be better than I think he is but to me he was a
flapper and a bit weak mentally.

to be replaced by an Arsenal U-23 loanee - The squad is weak. I think we need
bodies. Pablo is a year older.

It's probably more important we kept Phillips - as much as I don't want to like
him (stroller and pointer), he improved immeasurably under Bielsa and is the
lynchpin of the team - home and more so away.  Has he actually signed a new
deal yet? In 6months he can sign for anyone and leave at the end of the season,
although we will get a 'fee' it's set by tribunal if you're under 23? Or have
the rules changed?

Next season is all up in the air. If we go up, the manager doesn't even have a
Contract, so whilst I hate short termism, this season is all or nothing, so
loan deals (Harrison, Clarke, Costa etc.) are fine by me.

You can imagine he'd keep some of the team (he is pretty pig headed) and we may
even win some games if we went up but we'd also get pumped.

We need to get promoted first!

Isn't the philosophy to invest in youth players who come in for a year and play
with the U23's, get the feel of the team and then step up, like Bogusz and Tun
whatshisname?

Quite honestly I dont care how we do it but if we can continue to play like we
did at Bristol City and for large parts of last season I'll be happy with that
and I think it will give us a good chance of getting promoted.

loan deals (Harrison, Clarke, Costa etc.) are fine by me.

You can imagine he'd keep some of the team (he is pretty pig headed) and we may
even win some games if we went up but we'd also get pumped.

We need to get promoted first!

If this kid and the keeper are only signings today questions have to be asked.
Our best defender, top goalscorer and best youngster sold for millions to be
replaced by an Arsenal U-23 loanee who is apparently a wonderkid but has only
played 8 times for Arsenal in the last 2 years. I'd be pretty disgusted by
that. Still a few hours to go though so I'll save my criticism till then.

Looks like he is on the way to Leeds for the season.
Apparently the Arsenal fans rate him very highly.
Good work by Orta.
