I think that when you don’t score when you’re on top, you lose the right to
grumble about bad luck , poor refereeing decisions etc.
It’s not the ref that misses clear chances or switches off at the back.

Re: [LU] Millwall highlights

2019-10-07 Thread Simon McNally
I thought it was noticeable how we struggled to play out from the back against
WBA after cooper went off. As well as not being a centre back, Berardi is not
as comfortable with the ball at his feet as the others. There were a few
occasions where White chose to play up the line instead of square to Berardi,
which he would have done if Cooper were there. Casilla did the same as well,
choosing to kick long instead of go short to Berardi.
I like how Berardi shows passion etc but I just don’t think he’s good enough
either as a footballer or his temperament. The playoff defeat to derby should
have been his last game in a Leeds shirt.

Steve Evans is now gainfully employed as manager of Gillingham. And an
opposing manager recently commented that for Gillingham fans, watching what
happens in his dugout is far more entertaining than anything his team produce
on the pitch.

[LU] You make your own luck?

2019-10-07 Thread Robert Heath
I have always been a firm believer in the adage that "You make your own
luck." From what I have seen and heard, Bielsa is also an adherent. He
clearly believes that if we keep playing the "right" way, keep swarming
over the opponents and making our overloads and delivering the ball into
the danger area, then the rewards (goals) will come. They may not arrive in
any one particular match, or even in a few consecutive matches (as is
happening at the moment), but over a series of, say, 46 matches, more goals
will arrive than would result from say lumping the ball aimlessly into the
box.

I absolutely agree with that analysis, on a logical and theoretical level.

But on an emotional level, I am screaming WHEN WILL OUR BLOODY LUCK
TURN?

Contrast how hard we have worked, and how well we have played, to chisel
out our last 2 goals (v WBA & M/wall) with bloody Derby Bastard County.
They got the 2 jammiest goals ever v Luton on Saturday. Luck which they
certainly didn't "make."

We did get a few "lucky" goals last season (Roofe's handball v Forest and a
Rotherham keeper error giving Roofe a 6 inch tap-in are two I
recall.but going back to my thesis, they were lucky goals we
"made" by pressurising and constantly attacking opponents, unlike the
undeserved lucky goals Derby got.)

So what am I saying? Let's keep faith in Bielsa, and trust that soon enough

Re: [LU] Millwall highlights

2019-10-07 Thread Richard Naef
Bielsa's plan is to have 2 players for each position, including those that he
feels can play in more than 1 position. He thinks too many players not playing
is disruptive to the team. That's what we have. Even if you think he's wrong
which top centre halves would you want us to recruit, in view of the lack of
finances?

As for Saturday, he admits he made mistakes, by not rearranging the formation
in the first half. As gutwrenchingly horrible as I felt at the final whistle,
I find that refreshing. Also as Nick A said, the team played very well with 10
men, a team to be proud of.
